BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

What hurrying human tides, or day or night!
What passions, winnings, losses, ardors, swim thy waters!
What whirls of evil, bliss and sorrow stem, thee!
What curious questioning glancesglints of love!
Leer, envy, scorn, contempt, hope, aspiration!
Thou portalthou arenathou of the myriad long-drawn lines and groups!
(Could but thy flagstones, curbs, facades tell their inimitable tales);
Thy windows, rich and huge hotelsthy side- walks wide;
Thou of the endless sliding, mincing, shuffling feet!
Thou, like the parti-colored world itselflike infinite, teeming, mocking life!
Thou visor'd, vast, unspeakable show and lesson!

Sheer white patchouli, passionate red musk, caramelized vanilla, black opium poppy, and lilac.

In The Bottle: Light patchouli, heavy red musk and a dash of opium.

Wet On Skin: The patchouli becomes even lighter, more airy. This is NOT a hippy-vibe patch. This is something far more translucent. The lilac peeks through at this stage as well.

Dry Down: The musk goes from a classic red to more of a warm brown, like in Small Brown Cat. The lilac adds a sweet undercurrent that keeps it from getting too heavy and dense. I get NO caramel or vanilla, unfortunately, but that could certainly come out after some aging, so I won't give up.

In All: Medium throw, a snuggly scent for cooler temperatures. I shall certainly wear it in the coming months walking around my beloved hometown of NYC :wub:

I mainly get a musky patchouli with opium and a whiff of lilies. This is a red musk/patchouli heavy blend. Snuggly, female, and very sophisticated. Medium throw and wear length.

Faint red musk, patchouli and caramel. I amp caramel to the nth power and this does not disappoint. The vanilla oddly softens the sweetness of the caramel making this bareable until the Damn LILAC comes stomping on my skin. *sigh* This had such promise until the stinky lilac took over.

This was totally sweet patch in the bottle to me.

On, the same.

Dry down, the musk finally started to peek out but otherwise still mostly sweet patchouli. I'm glad that the lilac and caramel are only in supporting roles and never really became noticeable as themselves but remain blended.

Moreso than any other BPAL scent I have in my collection right now, in the bottle and wet on the skin for the first couple of hours this SCREAMS incense/new age shop, in the best possible way. the patchouli is a more fresh and herbal variant, the red musk is sweet and creamy, and the opium lends a spicy sharpness. as it wears on the skin, the vanilla and lilac come to the forefront. it's sweet and creamy and almost baby powder-y in a way i don't entirely mind. it reminds me a bit of Fake News in that it's sophisticated-hippy, but the overall feeling is very different.

Gahhhh this is so amazing. I am so thankful to the kind fairy that picked this up for me!!

The patchouli is faint to me with the red musk being front and center. I am obsessed with red musk so this makes me happy. The vanilla is the mellow bridge between the red musk and the opium, I cannot pick up any lilac. Broadway lingers and has that sexy, hazy quality that I also loved in Mrs. Valentine from last year's NYCC exclusives. I will treasure this bottle for sure.

This ends up being a red musk and incense on me. Not complaining, it will fill my need for red musk. I like this, and probably would be even more amazing layered with a honey and/or vanilla note. Kind of reminds me of The Grindhouse, but without the floral.

Wet: Dry, woody/earthy patchouli is dominant. Then I get some hints of sweet red musk. But mostly patchouli. Hoping the other notes will come out as it settles - not a huge fan of this patchouli note.

Dry: Still all about the patchouli, which lately hasn't been great with my skin chem/nose. So this is sadly not for me. (Or maybe fortunately? Now I don't have to hunt more down).

The best part of Washington Square Park in Summer.... I feel like the chicest hippy in New York.

Languid, warm days patchouli and sultry red musk wrapped in sunny day bodega flowers and darkened vanilla whispers.

I love it so much. It's so nostalgic for me, and on days when it's just a bit too, in my face patchouli, I pair it with Trois or Peach 3 and
people stop me on the street asking what that amazing scent is. (also paired with Lobster!)

The dry down goes gorgeous incense, head shop poppy, lilac and vanilla....I just love it.
