Long Night Moon 2017

Recommended Posts

The nights are at their longest, the sky is at its darkest. The air is still with reflective silence. A bouquet of night-blooming flowers, petals dusted with frost. Cereus, datura and moonflower accord, night phlox, honeysuckle, silver thyme, nicotiana, pale tuberose, white mint, and blue musk.

A huge bloom of night flowers - cereus, moonflowers, honeysuckle, blue musk. Great throw and wear length. This is a gorgeous white floral bouquet.

I need to try them side by side, but from memory, this scent is nearly identical to June 23, 1868 from the OLLA collection. June 23 has a strong, narcotic lily note and that slight ~sepia tone~, whereas this is a touch cooler and the florals are white but not lilies... but otherwise they smell basically the same in the bottle and on the skin.

The sweet cereus and the white flowers are the strongest notes on me. I need to test this some more for the specific flowers and hoping I notice mint.

I love June 23, so this isn't an insult in any way, and I'm glad to have another scent like it, but the resemblance seems strong.

In the bottle and on first application, this smells super-duper floral. However, it soon calms down to a sweet flower -- I can definitely pick out the tuberose, which is good since I got this after liking tuberose in another blend -- which just seems a little dark. I was wondering about the imagery, because it doesn't feel autumnal at all, more like being outside on the sort of night where it's still 90 degrees at 1 am. The scent doesn't stick around for long on me, but I do like it.

Wet: Wow, this is gorgeous. Honeysuckle is my new favourite floral, and it shines in this. I also feel like I smell jasmine, which used to be terrible on me, but lately has been a bit better. If there is jasmine in this, it's nice, not doing that cat pee thing it likes to do. Very heady, this floral. Like sticking your face into a bouquet of fresh blooms. Nicotiana likes to overwhelm everything, but it's not in this.

Dry: This is so so pretty!!! If I hadn't just picked up a bottle of Wild Honeysuckle SN I would be very tempted to hunt down a bottle of this. Actually I kind of still am. It's gorgeous, sweet, Honeysuckle dominant blend on me, and I love it.

This smells hot and humid to me, just like Sturgeon Moon. Maybe that's a characteristic of some of the Lunacy blends, to invoke a dark summer night. It's beautiful. If only the honeysuckle didn't star, I would wear it as my bedtime blend, or evening blend before bed. I should have stuck with my guns on the honeysuckle, knowing fully well I don't like them, as I learned devastatingly with Encroaching Madness - which I wanted to love so much because of it's inspiration being The Yellow Wallpaper short story by Charlotte Perkins Gillman! Anyhow if you love honeysuckle, which I know a lot of people do, this is a beautiful nighttime variation of it.

Gorgeous honeysuckle. As it sits longer on my skin, it just becomes more divine. I can see the comparison to June 23, 1868, and it also reminds me of Lullaby. I think it is the moonflower note in Long Night Moon that reminds me of those other two florals. However Long Night Moon has to be my favorite because the honeysuckle is sweet yet soft. The floral perfume doesn't go soapy, sharp, or powdery on me. It is the perfect combination of honeysuckle and moonflower.

If you enjoyed Wild Honesuckle SN but want a more "sophisticated" or evening scent, Long Night Moon 2017 is perfection!

I honestly don't know where/why/how I got this imp. Maybe I had a random whim buy from Ajevie, but maybe it was a frimp. Huh. In any case - I hate florals. I avoid them chronically because they just don't fit who I am, and most of them go "powder", "old lady", or just amp up my house and are too much. So, with that...

Imp : Yup hi florals. I'm gonna put you on my skin though. It'll be fine. It'll be fine.

Wet on skin: You guys aren't so bad. Sort of sweet soft white overall. I've come across "night" florals before and they have a nice mellow vibe to them I really appreciate.

Drydown: I'm useless at notes, but I think even skilled people will say this is well-blended. Soft, floral, somehow damp white scent. Has tons of throw, as florals do. It feels white, cool, robust but delicate. But yeah you're still a floral and now it's all up in my nose and all I can smell lol.

Would be beautiful florals for a floral person. I'll trade this off so they can enjoy!
