Huntress

Recommended Posts

This was the day that we discovered that Lilith was likely a sharpshooter crossbowman in another life. She was startlingly accurate, even with the handicap of using a clumsy carnival weapon.

Funnel cakes, baked apples, and strawberry cream.

Yay! I love a good carnival scent, and this delivers! Sugary, buttery, funnel cake, a soft apple top note. And strawberry? Buried underneath all those calories.

Sooooo good...I want to eat it...

In the imp: Hot cinnamon apples and a touch of bread. No strawberry to be seen.

Wet on the skin: Lots of apple and cinnamon.

Drydown: Mostly a bready cinnamon. The apple is still there, but more in the background. I can -kind of- smell the strawberry, but it's mostly just a very light sweetness with a milky note that keeps the cinnamon from being too strong and spicy.

Final thoughts: I hope the apple comes back. I know it probably won't, but apple is my favorite bpal note, even if all it wants to do on me is fade as quickly as it can. At least the other notes in this are good, it's not exactly unpleasant to smell like hot cinnamon-y bread with a touch of sweet milk.

For people with extreme sensitivity to cinnamon I'd steer clear, otherwise only apply it to less sensitive areas. My collarbone is doing fine but this burned my neck and made my wrists itch.

This is definitely a keeper though, but not something I'm going to go out of my way to stockpile multiple bottles of forever. This will for sure be getting used though, and I am interested in seeing how it ages.

ETA: Fades surprisingly quickly for how strong it was on application. This lasted barely an hour on me with really strong throw before quickly becoming so close to the skin I can barely smell it. Hm. This might become a swap after all if aging doesn't help it much.

Wet: Apples and STRONG cinnamon.

Dry: This stays very similar to the wet stage. Strong cinnamon, and apples. Where's the strawberry cream? The scent is very nice, but I was really hoping for some strawberry thrown into the mix.

Be cautious if you have any issues with skin sensitivity; my skin turned quite red where I applied this oil.

A nice foodie scent, but not what I was expecting.

Strong baked apple pie, and a ton of crust. Loads of cinnamon. I dabbed this on my elbow, and in my first 12+ years of BPALing, I had an allergic reaction for the first time. I put this on the crook of my elbow yesterday and it definitely blew up. Good throw and wear length.

This was way heavier on the cinnamon than I was expecting. Wet, I get a hint of baked apples underneath a mountain of cinnamon. No strawberry cream to be found. It doesn't irritate my skin, luckily, so I guess I don't have a cinnamon sensitivity. I will say that the baked apple note is quite lovely. It doesn't go Yankee Candle on me at all the way most of the Lab's apple notes do. If you can get past the initial blast of cinnamon, this is quite lovely on the drydown.

I smell...suede? What?!

Also, my skin reacted to this one with a painful red welt. Waah.

ETA: Yep, be careful if you could have scent sensitivities. Prior to this I've only gotten mild redness (and a slight welt) at the exact site of application, but something about this blend really spread. I applied Huntress to a site smaller than the size of a dime, but within 10 minutes I had notable swelling and redness reaching out to the size of a computer mouse. Ouch.

In the bottle: Smells just like an apple pie, heavy on cinnamon.

Wet on my skin: CINNAMON. With a little bit of baked tart green apple, and after a minute, sugary dough.

Dry: Okay, so I don't normally react to cinnamon, but this one burns my skin if I put it in the crooks of my elbows or the base of my neck. Not badly enough to avoid wearing it, and it goes away within 10-15 minutes or so, but those with a cinnamon sensitivity will definitely want to avoid it.

That out of the way...this is soooo nice now that it's had a week to settle! It's definitely cinnamon and apple-forward at first. The apple is tart cooking apple, maybe even Granny Smith or the like, but it's a very foody apple whatever colour it is. The funnel cake dough doesn't have much presence until it's been on my skin for 10-15 minutes, at which point the whiff of raw dough from the wet stage becomes something very like pie crust. It's now dough and apples, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and with just a bit of creamy strawberry on the top. The strawberry isn't really a note in and of itself, but I can tell there's a hint of fruity, creamy sweetness helping to restrain the cinnamon bully. This is a foodie scent through and through, and I hope the pastry/dough note comes out even more as it ages, because it's making my mouth water. Yum!

WARNING! There is cinnamon in the "baked apples" - enough that I had a strong, painful reaction on my skin, which is rare for me. Be cautious!

Trying this for the funnel cake! I immediately thought of Midway when I read the notes. Normally I don't go for gourmands anymore, but if there is even a chance it could be like Midway...

Wet: Not Midway. There is cinnamon in this apple, and it's stomping alllll over the other notes. I get hints of the apple, but no funnel cake, or strawberry cream. Mostly just cinnamon. It's sweet and pleasant. But I have tons of scents with cinnamon. Was really hoping for funnel cake!

Dry: I won't ever know, the red welt this has caused hurts enough that I am washing it off. Strongest skin reaction I have EVER had to a perfume. Ouch.

I bought a bottle in December, so they must have fixed whatever was causing the welts. I haven't had a reaction.

Wet: apple pie.

Dry: some of the cake and sweetness is coming out, and somehow mellowing the apple. It's like a nice, light, vanilla and cinnamon-apple cake. It's super comforting to me. I don't find it overpowering at all.

In bottle: Apple dominant, with that crisp apple note I particularly like, gentled by strawberry cream, with soft sweet funnel cake.   Wet: Rich apples, with soft strawberry support.  The cream and funnel cakes form a canvass on which the fruit can be beautifully displayed  Dry: Apple tinged with strawberry.

In the imp, this was so fun! Sugary bread, sweet apple, and cinnamon. There was a hint of cream, but no strawberry that I could detect. On my wrist, this was awful. The cinnamon was so strong that it drowned everything but the apple out. With the strength of the cinnamon and the tartness of the apple, this ended up smelling like straight up chemicals on me. Also, the cinnamon left my wrist red and itchy, even after washing it off.
