Pleasures of the Imagination IV

Recommended Posts

White tea blossom, jasmine sambac, white musk, and leather.

I'm disappointed.
Starts out as beautiful tea scent with a subdued jasmine. I really wish the scent would have stayed this way. Its so pretty.
Too bad that once it dries down it turns to soap.
BTW, I didn't detect any leather or musk in this.

This is the jasmine I was hoping for. It is beautiful, white and intoxicating without going to funk as many jasmine scents tend to do on my skin. The leather seems to be of the white variety and the white musk is adding just a hint of the lift that white musk tends to do on me (which I love). Huh. I didn't really notice the white tea blossom. I'm sure it is there...maybe on the next wear. :-) I love this.

For me, both fresh out of the mail and when retested a few days later, this is mostly white tea. I get a bit of jasmine, and maybe a hint of leather, but not enough to make it truly dynamic. The jasmine and leather were the biggest draws for me - I like white tea and white musk, but mostly as background notes - so I don't think it will be a keeper. I do like it, though. I just can't see myself reaching for it over a number of other scents.

I don't get any leather from this. It's a very fresh, bright, sharp jasmine on my skin. The white tea has a citrusy, lemony edge, the jasmine is bright, perfumey, and slightly soapy, and the white musk is perfumey and gives me a headache. I like a sweeter, more gourmand, honeyed type of jasmine.

This is mainly white tea on me, with a hint of jasmine. I am not getting much leather, except perhaps an edge in the background, but it's hard to say if it's really leather or an edge from the sharp jasmine blossom. There is something in this that smells vaguely like bergamot as well, but it could be something in the tea note, perhaps?

This actually makes me think of a floral version of Severin - the leather in that is also very light on me, and they both share the bergamot-like tea note.

Overall, like sipping a cup of slightly citrusy white tea next to a blooming jasmine. You might be wearing leather boots, but they are clean and polished and very unobtrusive, because you can hardly smell them here.

Pretty, pretty, pretty! This scent is all jasmine white tea on me, which happens to be my favorite kind of tea. The tea note is similar to the one in Dormouse and the jasmine is similar to Winter Jasmine SN (both favorites of mine). There is a hint of muskiness when I get close, and the leather is present but very soft. Think your grandmother's leather gloves that she wore nearly every day for 20 years. The latter two notes only come out after the scent has warmed up quite a while on my skin, and the whole thing has very little throw. I may try it in a scent locket to see if I can coax a little more out of it.

La Prostitution did not turn out to be the jasmine scent of dreams for me, so I have high hopes for this one.

Bottle: In a similar vein to La Prostitution, but not as sweet in the bottle. The leather cuts cleanly through.

Wet: White tea, sweet jasmine, and a little dry leather. The white musk blends so nicely with these I can hardly make it out - I think the leather and tea are drowning it.

Drying: Begins to sharpen a little as it dries and the tea and leather come out more. Now it's sharp jasmine tea and leather, but something isn't quite meshing here.

Dry: The leather comes out a lot more on the drydown, but I think there's just something about the jasmine here that doesn't completely work with the other notes. It is quite soapy on the drydown.

Out of the bottle: jasmine and tea, bergamot/ citrus note

Wet: strong white soapy jasmine, the leather is very very faint, can't detect the musk at all

Dry: soap soap and more soap

This smells like if a bar of Imperial Leather soap and cheap 99c store jasmine soap had a baby.

On the wand, I smell everything but the leather. Primarily jasmine, followed by white tea, and then a slightly powdery musk.

On my skin, a pretty jasmine white tea with some powdery white musk. I would bottle this if it weren’t so powdery, because the jasmine tea is so fresh and attractive. (I’m still tempted.) I’m going through a jasmine phase and this jasmine is soft rather than super-sharp or high-pitched. I’m drawn to this blend, but I get no leather at all from it until it dries. Then it slowly creeps in, but stays soft, and seems mostly white leathery. The leather doesn’t seem to quite mesh with the rest of it, but I still like it.

Same from bottle to drydown on me...gorgeous crisp white tea, a dirty funky jasmine, and lovely soft slightly soapy white musk. If there is leather, I can't differentiate it from the tea note. I love it.

Freshly applied, i smell indolic jasmine and white leather and it both smell like smoked bacon, but the leather dissipates and i get a dry smoked jasmine drydown. Imagine Phantasm stripped off its juiciness and add a bit of smoky white leather and you get this PI IV. A great standout blend !

This is a beautiful blend, light and crisp but with a smooth leather finish. I can't place my finger on it, but one of the GC scents smells similar, which is why I'm trading this one with another member—I remember finding the GC lovely but not reaching for it often enough. Still, if you're looking for a white tea and citrus Luper, this would be the one.

White tea, jasmine, and maybe a touch of leather. Honestly, this is mainly white tea/jasmine on me. Very light and feminine. Great throw and wear length.

I really like the smell of jasmine, but it can be too heady on my skin and give me a headache. This is definitely one of those. Interestingly, up close I can smell the white tea blossom - it actually softens the jasmine a bit, but unfortunately, the scent that wafts on to me is a shrieking kind of jasmine. Which seems appropriate with this...I don't quite know what I was thinking...

Astringent white tea, jasmine, and soap.  😕  I'm pretty sure it's the musk in this, mixed with the clean, citrusy tea, that's really amping the soap factor on my chemistry.  I think this might work well for someone who likes Embalming Fluid and wants a more grandiose, floral vibe.  Alas, I get no leather.  This one isn't right for my chemistry.

i smell white tea, white musk and jasmine the strongest...this is one of those indolic jasmines. it's a soft subtle floral tea scent for the most part. there is maybe a tiiiiny hint of leather in the background but it's quite subtle. i like the tea in this a lot. unfortunately after being on my skin awhile it gets quite soapy.
