Young Edith's Bedroom

Recommended Posts

Note: Limited release perfume oil; atmosphere spray review topic located here.

Darkness engulfing a childs collection of dolls and books: beeswax, leather-bound paper, and white gardenias; porcelain and wood, lace and shadow.

Thank you to the lovely who sent me a tester of this special "Atmofume" - you know who you are, and you're awesome. ;)

Wet: Wow. Beautiful. Beeswax and gardenia are prominent. A tiny hint of really creamy leather, if that even makes sense. This is unique, and beautiful.

Dry: The beeswax and gardenia do amp up really strong on me, and get a little overwhelming. I really love the scent though, and will absolutely be getting some of the atmo spray. Not sure I would wear it as perfume though.

Basically this is a gardenia and wax scent on me. Mmmm! Both these notes start out strong, with the wax backing down first. There are some woody and vanilla notes paying around in here as well. It makes for a very pretty, sexy perfume. (I did not see the movie, but if this is Edith in her youth, she is gonna be one hot mamma!)

The beeswax note in this reminds me of Lights of Men's Lives, although they are noticeably different scents. LML is lighter, with a tinge of honey and vanilla, while Young Edith is sweeter because of the gardenia, and muskier because of the leather and paper. The beeswax is definitely the star of both scents, though. This perfume smells a little sharp and odd when wet, but becomes creamy and soft once dry. The books and leather become more defined during the dry stage, with an almost smoky edge from the beeswax. This has grown on me. A calming, cozy, yet elegant scent that I think will be lovely for bedtime.

So after a year long exploration of book and library scents, I finally found this on the labs etsy. I am not sure I would have appreciated it early on in my pursuit of library blends as I was drawn to scents that were more straight up leather bound book. This smells upon opening like its going to be a gardenia and beeswax duet, but after about five minutes, the porcelain note moves to the front and this is my favorite part of this scent. Its so brittle and cold! A gorgeous and pretty scent, it reminds me of a young girl in a victorian home, with a porcelain bowl of with floating gardenia. Book adjacent more than a library scent. As the scent settles on the skin, the softest leather bound book emerges, so worn and so favorited. What book is this for you? I think for me  it is The Secret Garden.

Oh myyyyyy.

I was curious about this one, but never grabbed a bottle on Etsy because I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the beeswax and book combo with gardenia. Well, it turns out that my fears were unfounded. This is mostly the Lab's gorgeous beeswax with their amazingly soft, well-worn, syrupy brown leather note on me. It kind of makes me think of The Mountebank, but heavier on the beeswax and without the lavender. If the gardenia is doing anything on me, it is just behaving and possibly adding to the sweetness.

My experience seems to be different than everyone else's, but I'm fine with my beeswax and brown leather party.

Definitely going to have to grab the atmo and see how this is in that medium. :)
