Autumn Leaves and Haitian Patchouli Hair Gloss

Recommended Posts

Smoke-touched and dusky.

I will do a quick review with this one straight from the mailbox, because I'm sure others are waiting with anticipation just like I was to read about the new Weenie glosses. I'll come back and add to this after I have a chance to do a real test on my hair, which already has another hair gloss in it today.

I have done a quick sniff of Autumn Leaves & Haitian Patchouli (barely a spray into my palms) and it is a dried leaves and grasses scent. As a quick comparison, the Amber & Patchouli hair gloss is a sweet patchouli scent where the patchouli is very present, and is one of my favorites by far, which is saying a lot since I love my wide variety of hair glosses. This one is not sweet at all, it's Beth's red leaf note found in so many of the autumn scents. The leaves are dry and the patchouli is in the background and adds to the grounded herbal feeling of this. It's definitely not hippie patchouli. Initial impression is that it will be a great autumnal scent, not an "in your face" patchouli scent at all, and would be worn starting in late summer when you are craving autumn but it's too hot to wear your full-on Halloween scents. I can't wait to give it a full test on my hair.

Edited to add full test on clean hair and after letting bottle rest a couple of days: FABULOUS!! On towel-dried hair, to comb through tangles, I can smell the patchouli more. After blow-drying with a diffuser, a couple more sprays on the ends. The leaves are there but very well-blended with the patchouli, and it's sweeter on my hair than I first thought it would be, though hardly what one would call a sweet scent. I need a backup bottle STAT.

Anyone who loves Beth's scents with leaf notes, buy this now. So warm and autumnal.

Well, of all of the perfect things that could have landed on my erm, mailbox today!!!

This is my hairgloss holy grail hghg lol!

Dark, autumn fallen leaves with a subtle and clean patchouli beneath them.

There goes my $$...i need a few more bottles. This should age beautifully and will layer perfectly with October, Harvest Moon '13, Devils Night, Sonnet D'Automne and other fine leafy perfumes.

I love this. It is perfection: Autumn in a bottle.

Reminds me of the Dead leaves and Desolation candle more than Autumn Grove atmo if that helps. :-)

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! :-)

Hmmm..I think I got caught up in Weenie madness when I ordered this.

The artwork on the label was SO adorable! BUT, I should know better..autumn leaf is a death note for me. The scent is dried green grasses and red leaves with patchouli. I agree that this would be the perfect HG for anyone who loves Devil's Night, October..etc.

Sadly not for me. Swaps.

This really is autumn in a bottle! It smells like I crushed up a handful of dried fallen leaves with a tiny bit of soil clinging to them and rubbed them in my hair (but with much less mess of course lol). The leaves smell true to life and not fake at all (MAGIC) and the patch adds that little bit extra earthiness that makes this blend special. This is definitely an earthy patchouli versus some of the down and dirty or sweet patch notes floating around and it goes just perfectly with the leaves. The description mentions "smoke-touched" and I get just a tiny hint of smokiness like a long-burned out bonfire. Delicious and evocative! It will be an autumn staple and I can't wait to layer it with my favorite autumnal blends (Samhain, I'm looking at you!). Did I say delicious? I want to keep gushing about how gorgeous this is but I can't stop sniffing my hair :D

To me this is very patch heavy (which is great because I love patch and it's in a lot of stuff I have). This is the dark and dry cedary patchouli and is not sweet at all. The leaves at a hint of sappy dirt to the overall smell profile, which keeps this from just being single note patch on me. It's very similar to placophobia, which I pair it with a lot. It's that same warm, dry spicy dirt feel.

This is my very first hair gloss purchase, so I can't yet speak to how it affects my hair or how long the scent lasts, but as for the initial scent... this is really lovely! The lab's leaves note doesn't really work on my skin, so I was pleasantly surprised to have it smell the way it was supposed to smell. On me this is equal parts rough, earthy patch with true to life autumn leaves (how do they do it???). There's just the tiniest wisp of smoke in the background, making the "smoke touched and dusky" very apt. This smells very much like a cool fall night in a park. I was worried the scent would be too dry and harsh, but it's surprisingly snuggly. Wet, the leaves note is a little cologne-y but that sense disappears once it dries. I'm very glad I got my decant!

Leaves at patch, what more could a girl want? Very fall-like, dusky leaves, with the patch adding a bit of a dirty feel. The scent fades a bit once my hair dries, but it's still quite lovely. WIN!!

Oh god, leaves and patchouli. This is autumn leaves for you hair. Seriously.

Dry leaves, mossy dirt, and your hair is fabulous. Straight out of walking in the woods on a fall day.

Sadly, I already have too much HG but this is fantastic.

I do like patchouli, and I do like some of the Lab's dead leaf notes (this is the one I like), but I prefer them both with something sweet. I find the leaf note quite bitter, but love it with some honey or something. And Patchouli is just a touch dry for me without some sweetness. So, this scent isn't really for me, though I can appreciate the beauty and authenticity of it. It smells like autumn in a bottle.
