The Gourd of Deprivation Atmosphere Spray

Recommended Posts

The scent of fallow fields, faraway conflagrations consuming dry, parched grasses, and crops failing under the relentless heat of a dying sun.

Fleshy pumpkin again, orange meat and slightly spicy. A hint of the hay note, a little tiny bit of vetiver or smoke lingering in the background. Comparisons would be made to Scarecrow, which has a stronger cologne/topnote bite and definitely more hay. This is a pumpkin kissed a little bit by grasses and smoke. There's a huskiness to the blend, and while it is not SWEET, this is not a very dark blend. It is holiday appropriate. Not as atmospheric as I would have liked...

That being said, this would be more a 'trick or treating' smell of lit jackolanterns in suburbia' type of scent!

Puddin really did it with this one! (:

This is absolutely incredible. The first thing that I get is the smoke smell from a fireplace. The smoke is tamed a little and not super strong like how vetiver can make it be. It has a very tiny hint of a sweetness lingering behind it which I assume is the pumpkin and to my nose it doesn't read as overly spicy. Just mellowed out and a little raw. I do smell hay but it isn't the hay note like in "Autumn Fancies or Tattie Bogle" it's a more leafy hay note to me. This is just a winner all around and I will be spraying it a ton before Fall is over. Well done

How are people not screaming about this? It smells like an incensy chai doughnut on a pile of hay. Its gorgeous, and warm, and has a nice round nuzzly sweetness, with just a hint of a grassy backdrop. Seriously everyone, go buy this stuff! Me and a friend cleared out the stock at Del's because it was honestly so good.

I'm quoting this because it's perfect :D

I was afraid it would be too sweet, but the "doughnut" part of the smell is like really well-made doughnuts that have more spice than sugar. It's sweet without being cloying.

Agree with these two posts, it is very wonderfully sweet to me but not overpoweringly so. I don't get any smoke at all which is not a bad thing imo. Of all the Weenie atmo decants I got this one is my favorite. :wub3:

The Gourd of Deprivation really smells like fall...and doughnuts. I took the plunge on this atmo based on Mel's review, and I'm so glad I did! It smells to me like a sunny, late fall day when the air is cold and carries hints of kettle doughnuts, dry grasses, and woodsmoke. I can smell faraway fires in it, but they are in the distance, or have already passed through...this is no Brimstone or Djinn. So beautiful and weirdly addictive...I've already gone through 1/4 of my bottle!

This smells so good! It smells like you're baking something without it actually smelling like anything specific. I agree with Mel and Andyl and everyone else! It's a warm a snuggly scent, sorta spicy and sorta sweet, almost foody but not quite.

I sprayed my living room shortly before I baked a cranberry pecan pie for Christmas and when the pie started cooking and smelling delish I couldn't tell if it was the pie or the atmo.

EDIT: I liked this so much I ended up getting a backup bottle.

I got a bottle based purely on the reviews and my love of pumpkins and hay. Not only was I not disappointed ... I ended up buying two backup bottles. This is beyond perfection. Sweetly cozy spice with a gentle, sunlit quality about it. I grew up surrounded by farmlands, and this reminds me of sunset in the summertime when the hay has been cut and is sitting out in the fields waiting to be baled. I know the description says “fallow fields,” but to me this is the opposite. It's the smell of harvest grasses swirling on the breeze, buoyed by a delightful kick of spicy pumpkin. No fire/smoke for me. (P.S. The above descriptions of a pumpkin-chai donut on a haystack? Delicious and true.)

I just acquired a bottle of this liquid goodness through a swap.... and it is amazing. Seriously I hope my husband likes this as much as I do, because I want to spray everything in our house with it.

The first thing I think of is that it smells exactly like Jack, except maybe Jack lying on a bed of hay and eating some caramel covered apples. It's mildly sweet, a little spicy, warm and definitely inviting. I love it. :wub3:

Pumpkin, orange, and grass. This one smells like a pumpkin patch outside. It's fresh, breezy with the pumpkin bringing a bright orange warmness to the blend. It's comforting, soothing, and not smelling like deprivation at all! I find this one personally awesome.

Delicious! This Gourd is a foodie's delight! It's a rich full bodied scent: lots of pound cake and a wonderful melange of festive fall spices.

It's not heavy or light in throw, it is just right. This smells almost edible! I am not getting any smoke at all, rather something mysterious that draws you in and this continues as it lingers. The unique and beautiful artwork on the label is such a cool bonus!

:evol: this perfect Gourd!

I can't believe I'm so late to this one! When products don't have an actual note list I pass them by because I don't have enough expendable cash to drop on something that's too vague. But when this popped up on Etsy and had such glowing reviews I had to try it!

And oh boy am I glad I did. I use the atmo sprays to scent my bed, pillows, towels, and clothes. Gourd of Deprivation is AMAZING. I don't even know how to describe this except that it smells EXACTLY like being outside on a cool fall night. It's foody and slightly smoky and delicious and sweet with just a touch of hay. Seriously this is so amazing and I wish I had tried it when it was live so that I could have a dozen backups.

I suppose I should review my decant of this one before it is gone!

I do get the 'doughnut' part that people are describing (like a spiced cake doughnut without any icing) when I first spray the scent, but that quickly gives way to a somewhat smoky hay and parched grass scent. I wish the 'doughnut' part of the scent would stick around longer :(
