BPAL Madness!

Pumpkin candyfloss with red licorice, wild cherry, wild plum, and red currant.

Can I be the first? Is this how it works?

I tested Red Pumpkin Floss today. It started off very "red" candy in the bottle; not red like cherry koolaid but just that generic red, like popsicles that aren't really any flavour. On my skin, it warmed considerably and the pumpkin came out -- almost like butternut squash -- and the currant :wub2: came to the front. This is considerably sweeter on me than the Orange, but it's a warm deep sweet, not as candy as I thought it would be, not the slightest bit cherry to me (I don't like cherry). It's like warm squash with currants and sugar. I love it, and I did not expect to love it. Glad I have a bottle!

In bottle: Slightly floral spice.

Wet on skin: It's very red smelling for sure.....like cherry licorice!

Dry on skin: It's soft and buttery and I can definitely pick up a candy vibe. The red currant gives it a great spicy kick at the end.

Verdict: I love it!

in the bottle: wow, for me this was overWHELMINGLY pumpkin.

wet: it's ALL pumpkin, ALL the time. a little spice underneath it (is that cinnamon?).

drying down: the pumpkin is fading a bit. what emerges is a spicy, creamy cloud of plum and currant. this definitely feels more cinnamon-y than the description would have me believe, which sucks cause i amp it a bunch. but the fruitiness is keeping it pretty in-check. is this - dare i say it - a spicy, cinnamon-y scent i can actually wear?

bottom line: i like it! i'm not sure how it will wear in a day-to-day setting (it is VERY foody) but i am enjoying the smell now that the pumpkin has faded a bit. i think i'll keep my bottle.

joyfulgirl, I must have gotten some from the same batch as yours. I feel like your description mirrors my experience except I get no fruit or sense of sweet, red or candy in this, just bam, in your face dark, STRONG pumpkin and some spice. Like so strong it burned my nose strong. :(

Yes, definitely cherry licorice right after initial application. As it dries, I pick up a spicy pumpkin note and plum, but the cherry licorice still holds strong too.

Plum, currant and pumpkin. I seem to amp up plum, so it balances the pumpkin very well.

It's fruity, foodie, sweet.

This is the first BPAL scent that's gotten me compliments! From two different people in one day, no less. One said I smelled like cinnamon, the other like fresh pumpkin pie.

Probably one of my favorite scents thus far. My first thought upon sniffing it in the bottle was "Pumpkin candy? YUM." On skin it really does smell like fresh pumpkin pie, with an extra sweetness that I think might be the currant. Throw is great - a little goes a long way - and it lasts for hours. I suspect I'll be wearing this one well out of Fall/Winter.

These pumpkin blends seem all the same to me this year, with a teeny bit of variation. At first, there is a blast of lovely 'red' spice, like the one from Red Lace. It then turns to this years pumpkin base with a teeny bit more cinnamon.

I'm not getting any of the fruit notes or red licorice/candy from this one. It pretty much just smells like sweet cinnamon and buttery pumpkin on me, with emphasis on the cinnamon. It's my least favorite of the Pumpkin Floss blends.

This starts off lightly-spiced pumpkin candyfloss, but then the red fruits (cherry and plum mainly) take over immediately. It stays sweet and juicy for a while, then it dries down to a slightly-bland red licorice scent. I'm on the fence if I want a bottle of this or not, but I will hang onto the decant at least.

I'm not a big fan of pumpkin, but I was hoping the other notes would be predominate. VERY strong pumpkin on first application. Then it morphs into something terrible. Almost like there was a baked goods/vomit note? Had my arms not been full of laundry, I would have washed it off immediately. The cherry and plum finally started coming out more, but this is so not a blend for me.

Imp: Spicy pumpkin and cherry.

Wet: All pumpkin and spice.

Dry: This has turned into muddled pumpkin and cinnamon and I don't even know what. I've had terrible luck with ALL of the pumpkin blends this year :(

In the decant: Kind of like cherry-flavored cough syrup, only verging on the bitter. Oh dear, this can't be good.

Wet: Did I mention that bitter note? Yeah, must be the red licorice.

The dry-down: Just sad. I had hoped that all the lovely fruity notes would cover up the licorice, but it was not to be.

the foodie pumpkin/currant combo is reminding me a bit of the knave of hearts but without a non-foodie scent to help it work on my skin. this is all warm sweet pumpkin and fruit. it is VERY VERY sweet. and then the fruit mostly fades and it's just sweet sugary spicy pumpkin that smells a TEENY bit too "autumn candle" for me to wear, really.

In the imp - Warm red spices.

Wet - Plasticky pumpkin spice with extra cinnamon. This is kind of weird. I guess it’s the licorice that is throwing off the blend.

Drydown - Straight-up plastic red candy with pumpkin. No plum, no cherry, no currant.

Verdict - I really thought this would be a winner, but I’m disappointed. This is a pass for me.

In the decant -- don't smell much maybe faint cinnamon

Wet on skin -- heavy cinnamon and red vines

Drydown -- more of the red vine/Twizzlers scent emerges. Now this is yummy don't get me wrong but all I get is this note with cinnamon on top. Not hot cinnamon but sweet cinnamon. No pumpkin or plum or currant really.

Tasty simple scent. Low throw and not much staying power.

Imp: Diluted BPAL pumpkin

Initial Skin: What the. This smells exactly like stovetop stuffing.

Drydown on skin: It's still bordering on stovetop stuffing for me. Which i really weirdly kind of like. I'm pretty hungry right now too... It's basically pumpkin on me, with a level of cinnamony spice on top of it. But predominantly foody with almost herbal tangs to it.

Verdict; Stovetop stuffing. I'm sorry.
