Pyriphlegethonian Pomegranate Atmosphere Spray

Recommended Posts

An infernal bounty: fiery, blood red pomegranate, black fig, opoponax, patchouli, black pepper, tobacco absolute, cypress, yew berry, and dragon's blood resin.

This is truly the best pomegranate scent I'v ever experienced. It is definitely pomegranate, but not like any other i'v smelled. Its not too syrupy at all, and is balanced very nicely with patchouli and tobacco. I mentioned in the bats fay thread that this is very reminiscent of Crypt King (excluding the oakmoss). As a matter of fact, it does smell very similar, and perhaps as though the oakmoss was replaced with tobacco, which I think is why I like it quite a bit more. It adds a butteryness, and richness, to break up the sweet and earthy. All that said, if you dont like pomegranate, it would probably be a pass, but if your on the fence, then definitely give this one a try.

This may be a strange pairing, that has sprouted in my mind, but here it is:

What Red Lantern Atmo Spray is for Winter? THAT is what Pyriphlegethonian Pomegranite Atmo Spray is for summer.

Now, don't get me wrong- these two smell almost nothing at all alike.

But! In the same way that spraying a bit of Red Lantern causes a distinct feeling of the actual atmosphere, the mood, the vibe of a place, changing utterly, so too does Pyriphlegethonian do that as we get into warmer climbs.

Having not had the good fortune to yet get my hot little hands on some Crypt King, I cannot speak to the comparison made by the previous poster. But I absolutely agree that the fruit is balanced nicely by the addition of the tobacco. Further, in the past I've not had very good luck in finding a pomegranate scent that really worked for me, though I really, really wanted them to. but I think now that the solution to my problem is to have it be a room and linen spray instead, because this is so very lovely.

Rich and decadent without being *too* heavy for the warm months, and packing quite a bit of punch, so you needn't spray more than a squirt or two in a room, this gem, which it's fantastic note list, promises to only get better with age.

:)

I love the darkness of this atmo. I am also somehow reminded of Fahrenheit cologne, which I like a lot, so no complaints at all. I agree with the first post, this is not juicy sweet fruity pom, but more sophisticated if that makes sense.

I have to both agree and disagree with VioletChaos here. :D

Priphlegethonian Pomegranate reminds me of Red Lantern quite a lot. But I also think they smell a lot alike. I think I'm noticing the opium and tobacco notes similarly; the minute I sprayed it I thought of Red Lantern. Instead of the caramel soft note of Red Lantern, though, there's a sprightly tart red fruit note. It's as puckery as pomegranate jellybeans!

However, Red Lantern was never so dark as this one. Red Lantern has a perky sort of "let's all have afternoon tea at the opium den" vibe to it. This one, though, is more like "let's make this gaping maw of Hell smell good, shall we?" It succeeds beautifully, but it's dark. It's really dark.

I liked it, and it wasn't too dark for me. Still, I had to swap away the bottle I bought because it was too dark for my family's tastes.

I just some of this in a swap, not really having any expectations, just enjoying a swap. HOLY CRAP!!!! I have dreads, and everything just goes in my dreads:))

This was french tobacco in my hair that slowly turned into a dark bright sweet pom smell. It is all I smell. I am surrounded and intoxicated by this sexy dark fruit. I am thinking of trying to find more, which makes me crazy cause I swore I would stay bpal only, but I think bptp is calling me over to their side too!

This is dark tobacco and a bright pom note. I agree with hlinspjalda alot in the sense that it does a very Red Lantern vibe, whereas I found the caramel in Red Lantern to be overly sweet and overwhelming, I find the pom/dark fruit note in Pyriphlegethonian Pomegranate to balance the tobacco/patchouli notes without taking over.

Essentially, this is smoky pom. And what Persephone would spray about in the Underworld to make it smell like a home. You don't forget its the Underworld, but its dark, cozy and beguiling pomegranates that lure you in for a spell.

My first thought upon spraying this was "candy" and then "vampire candy."  The fruit notes are very strong, sweet and glossy and remind me of sugar plum and stewed plums (even a baked, almost spicy warmth after a while), but this has more of a red hue to it.  I catch teeny tiny whiffs of sharp black pepper, earthy patchouli and syrupy resin every once in a while, but they're drowning under the super sugary fruit scent.  After a while, the syrupy opoponax gains its foothold and really pushes this over the edge into being way too sweet for me.

It's a fun room spray, but I do find it to lean cloying and overwhelming after a while.  I was happy that I just did one small spray on a throw pillow to test because it would have been too much for me spritzed all about the room.  It's super strong and super sweet.
