Dark Chocolate with Tulsi, Tumeric and White Ginger

Recommended Posts

DARK CHOCOLATE WITH TULSI, TUMERIC, AND WHITE GINGER

In bottle: The dominant dark chocolate note works beautifully with the ginger and tumeric. Tumeric is a fairly gentle scent on it’s own, and here it works as a support and to aid blending just as the spice does in cooking. Tulsi is a strong counterpoint to the chocolate, giving a savory touch to a sweet blend. Wet: The basil scent of the tulsi really comes out on the skin, strong, fresh, green, delicious. It’s still chocolate dominant, but the tulsi is almost as strong as the ginger, assertive and unusual. I’m loving the way the sweet and savory blend and the creativity it took to even think of this combination blows me away. Dry: Mostly ginger and tulsi, with the chocolate and tumeric haunting it. I’d call the ginger dominent. It turns out ginger and tulsi is lovely. Who knew?

I agree that this is ginger dominant. Initially, the strongest notes are ginger and a dry, very dark chocolate. After the chocolate fades, the tumeric comes forward, with the tulsi adding a faint herbal greenness. The overall scent is hard to describe, but it has a spicy kick and is quite lovely.

Wet I get curried chocolate, maybe the smell of dessert after a great curry!

Once it dries it is rich, very dark, chocolate with a good kick of spice from the ginger, and quite strong turmeric grounding it. I only get a very faint whiff of tulsi which is a shame, I'd have liked it a bit stronger.

I was expecting this to be very similar to Jan 2012's version of Thirteen but this to me is far more earthy.

Decanted by Truelove!

In the imp: OH I LIKE. OH. First impression is chocolate, and then OOH GINGER OOH SPICES YES WANT.

On me, wet: Ginger dominant with a background of deep, rich chocolate and spices that kind of remind me of curry. I guess the dustiness comes from tulsi, because I definitely recognize it from 13 (January 2012)--as a matter of fact, I requested it because 13 was so good on me and this seemed to share a lot of notes with it, but I think ultimately I like this a lot better than 13. I'm kicking myself for not having gotten one when I had the chance because this is my spice cabinet scent, at least for spring. The ginger and chocolate give it a beautiful rich sweetness that's perfect for late winter/early spring, but the addition of the tulsi and tumeric spice it up ;) enough to make it different and interesting and not like any other Sweet Candy Flower Pretty Spring scent.

On me, dry: Still mostly ginger, but the dark chocolate has come out more. The savoriness of the spices complements the sweetness of the ginger and the chocolate perfectly. This is a unique, delicious springtime blend and I am immediately going to track down a bottle once I have the funds to do so.

Chocolate + spices. For me, I smell mainly the ginger with a dash of turmeric. It's smooth, gingery chocolate. Sort of like if the gingerbread man doused himself in chocolate.

Initially I thought, "I smell like.... Allsorts? Weird."

Thirty minutes later, "I smell pretty yummy."

Husband, "I love that one."

I'm sold.

Wow, all the notes really mingle in a harmonious way in the vial. It's a gingered dark chocolate. It actually reminds me of a specific chocolate in a chocolate box, but can't think of it. You more I whiff it out of the vial, the mose dark chocolately this gets. The tulsi shows up on me. It continues to go a little herbal on me. The ginger and dark chocolate weaken but they're still there. I actually like this a lot more than I thought I would. Glad I got a decant.

This kind of ends up like a resiny, incensey ginger chocolate. Not unlike some of the '13's out there. One of the spices is bothersome, it's kind of herbal/foody, but in a main dish, not baked goods kind of way. Not really a fan of this one.

I was hoping for gingerbread cookies and chocolate, but this blend isn't that sweet on me. The chocolate is almost earthy and bitter on me, with some slightly green, herbal tones that I'm not liking. Other than that, it's lots of ginger-y spice. This and the tomato chocolate have been my least favorite box of chocolates type scents.

In bottle: Daaaaaark chocolate.......mmmmmmmm....... There is a hint of turmeric, but I'm mostly getting chocolate. Not complaining, though :)

Wet on skin: the chocolate's still there, but I'm definitely getting a stronger hit of the turmeric now. I'm not getting any tulsi or ginger yet.

On dry down: the tulsi and ginger blossom (yay!). The dark chocolate and turmeric have pretty much faded for me (awwww), but they've had their moment in the spotlight, and I can still detect a hint of the chocolate in the background, especially if I'm trying. This scent really makes me want to sniff my wrists.

Throw: um.... I can barely smell it if I don't lift my wrists up, but the tulsi and ginger kind of linger in my nose, so.... I can take a wrist-sniffing break, I guess?

Verdict: ***** Honestly, this scent just makes me happy. It's spicy and sharp and lifts my spirits - I may have to try it when I'm in a bad mood sometime (was in a fairly neutral mood when I put it on).
