Tin Foil Hat

I agree that this is a citrusy aquatic and slightly masculine. It doesn't really morph at all, and has medium lasting power.

In the vial: I'll admit: I bought this solely because of the name, not caring at all what it would smell like. *scifi and conspiracy geek here* That being said, it's not at all what I expected, but rather quite bright, fruity and happy. I thought it'd get something cold, metallic and outer-spacy alien-proby. I'm not good at naming notes unless I have a list in front of me, but here goes: something citrusy that's proably lime, then perhaps some watery vegetable like cucumber, possibly lilac or other such floral and ozone.It's like the fresh, fun and summery cousin of Teatime in Roswell.

 

On my wrist: Very bright and fruity. The ozone is still definitely there. The metallic note you'd only expect finally comes out. I think there's some melon, too.

This is really, really nice until it dries down and the metallic takes over on me. I don't care for metallic scents so this is a no-go for me.

Sniffed: Light, ozone-metallic, a bit minty. Very light and clean.

 

On skin: This is an imperceptible, vanishing scent. From what I can smell, it contains a variety of metallic, minty, ozonic and herbal notes, but I can't identify anything beyond this. Over the course of drydown it turns a bit hazy and thick, and a very light creamy sweetness emerges. The scent ends up a mix of creamy sweetness and ozone. Tin Foil Hat is an empty, hollow scent, a perfume that barely has any substance. (Most metallic-heavy blends tend to be so to me.) Nevertheless, it manages to be light and airy, and a bit hazy at the same time. Perhaps that's what a tin foil hat is meant to do -- dull the strength of this perfume's scent? Anyway, colour impression is a nondescript ivory.

 

Verdict: I was glad to receive a sniffie of Tin Foil Hat, and while it's a pretty blend, it simply doesn't have any substance or lasting power. I prefer my perfume a bit heavier, thank you.

This definitely reminds me of a lighter, airy cologne. While it reminds me of the airy commercial colognes, this is nonetheless more refined and not as stark and aggressive. Wet, this turns rather sharp and citrusy on me, but still remains airy and on the lighter side. I wouldn't mind wearing this myself, but I'd totally recommend this to a dude any day.

In the bottle: strong smelling, heavy and masculine.Wet: strong cologne with a metal like smell, ozone maybeDry: remains metallic smelling but not in a bad way and the cologne smell has mellowed . It has quite a bit of throw and staying power. It's a unisex scent for sure.

In the Imp (ITI): On the initial sniff, it smells very much like men's cologne to me; very aquatic. On second sniff, I can smell verbena and perhaps ozone as well.

 

Wet: From a distance, it seems like there might be some cucumber here mixed in the the verbena and slightly metallic and aquatic notes.

 

Dry: After 15 hours of wear, there is s warm powderiness with a metallic tinge like tin foil with perhaps the slightest whiff of citrus.

I was expecting metallic from this, but it's surprisingly not. In the imp, it's refreshing in an aquatic-citrus (grapefruit?) type way. Almost reminds me of an aftershave.

 

On my skin, it's minty (spearmint?) and/or eucalyptus, "cool", but still men's soap/aftershave-y. I like it, though. Gonna hang onto this imp for the summer.

 

Edit: I smell tobacco as it dries. Overall, it's quite masculine, but I like it anyway.

Wet: Crisp and clean, with a metallic tinge. I dig it!

 

Dry: Citrus and metal. This is YUM on me! A bright, fun scent. I'm super glad I have my imp!

Tin Foil Hat starts out as ozone and citrus (similar to Lightning), but with a little something extra. It eventually develops an aquatic aspect.

I loved the Black Helicopters Over Black Phoenix line, and I'll hang on to one imp because even though it isn't my usual style, it is a nice clean scent on me.

(And, just in case, I wouldn't want to be caught without my Tin Foil Hat).

yep, this is a super metallic-ozone and very traditionally masculine. bright, sharp, fresh, gleaming and clean. if this were soap i am sure it would sell super well! i am personally not a big ozone lover, but i am glad i got to try this!

I tested this out and agree with most on here about it being a manly clean cologne, that I feel like I have smelled before. My friend sniffed and said it smells like Irish Spring soap, so there you go. Off to swaps!

Wet in Imp: Ozone & Aquatic. Well-blended and sure of itself.

Wet on skin: NO tin foil the others talk of...the only citrus may be the leaves or stems NO bright fruity notes.

I'm reminded of Y'ha Nthlei or Olokun.

Drying on skin: Upscale Aquatic Men's cologne from the 90's. There is even a touch of leather. It's stunning...a sexy, summery morpher.

 

Final thoughts: This is a blend that ages very well. I will treasure my decant.

*digs to double check first* I got this in 2016, either as a frimp, or part of a grab bag off of the lab's Etsy of discontinued imps. It came together with a pack of ordered imps, so sometimes wasn't clear what was frimp and what was grab bag!

 

In the imp: Bright ozone notes, and a follow up of METAL, like the smell that clings to your hand after you've been holding a bunch of coins.

 

On: Wet, airy, crisp notes. Reminds me of the breeze off of an ocean when you're not close, but a mile or two in land, so you're just catching that ozone-salt tinge. Hint of metal spiking through.

 

Dry and onward: An ozone-tinged, faintly metallic breeze, like it's blowing through a field of metal. There's something reminiscent of a fresh line type scent to it, a touch soapy or detergenty in nature, but not strongly or unpleasantly so. Overall, I found it surprisingly wearable! It's not something I wear for often, but I actually do pull it out once in a great while when I want something very clean and light.

Usually silver metallics go way too cologne on me.  This is a clean aquatic with a little floweriness and salt in it.  Maybe some ozone, but not heavily so.  A little black musk, maybe silver musk? This smells really good.

I agree with the other reviewers, very fresh cologne with a tinge of salt. I don’t wear ozone scents much, but I do feel like it’s here. 
It’s more approachable than a tin-hat-wearing gent, but maybe that’s part of his charm (he’s probably an Aquarius). How else would he successfully convince others of the imminent alien invasion & the brainwashing tactics already in play?

Tin Foil Hat is a metallic aquatic. Metallic notes tend to be sharp and cologne-like on me, but the one here manages to refrain from becoming too sharp and headache-y. Aquatic notes are also not something my skin pulls off very well, but the one in this doesn't turn to soap at all and does have a watery feel to it.

 

I'm glad I got a chance to try this one. While it's not something I could see myself wearing, it's a nice aquatic cologne. I think it would be great to smell this one on a guy, so I am going to have mine try this one on later.

I don't think I read reviews before I got this one, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. It smells really familiar - like I've smelled another cologne or bodywash or something that smells similar. I don't know what notes usually make something smell metallic, but it doesn't really bring to mind metal for me. Wet, it threatens to get soapy, but as it dries I get a bit of fresh citrus with aquatic cologne. In small quantities it might be worth trying again in the summer; I'm not sure if I just applied more than I intended, but it seemed very strong.

Slightly metallic (the aluminum foil note I'm guesting) cologne. It's fresh and clean, and a little bit of sweetness which is unusual and I have no idea what could be causing that on me. Reminds me a little bit of Steam.Goth because of the cologne and metallic notes. So if you are a fan of that, you might like this one too.

 

Glad I tried this, but I've got a bottle of Steam.Goth so I doubt I'll be hunting for more of these imps.
