Lamia

Recommended Posts

Wet, Lamia opens up with the most intoxicating peach/apricot note. How I wish it stayed! But the coconut and orchid quickly come front and center. I don't get many other notes, including the vetiver which is normally one of my death notes but I never get the dreaded hair/bug spray effect. I can tell there are other notes rounding the scent out, perhaps the champaca and amber. But overall this is a very light and tropical perfume on my skin. Not what I typically go for yet I absolutely adore it still. Its just sooo pretty. I'm so happy to have a bottle and I love wearing this one for work days and in summer.

In the bottle I agree Lamia does smell quite a lot like Lush Jungle conditioner. On skin though she is predominantly a chamapaca and oude blend on me, slightly sweet, powdery and incensey. I love champaca and the oude is not overpowering at all. I can't pick out the fruits really. There is a tropical aspect to Lamia too- if I was going to pick an aesthetic for her I would choose beach-goth. Very hot summer night kind of perfume!

I've been really interested in giving this one a try! In the decant it's a weirdly greenish, silvery scent with a sharp/hard edge. I’d almost say weirdly ‘concrete-y’.

I’m a little scared of the vetiver, but the rest of the notes seem so lovely, just gotta get through it (lol). On my skin that weird sharp concrete-y note dissapears and whether it’s that, or another note that pops up – it becomes a soft, velvety scent.
The pale orchid is not super up-front, but this does have a main white-floral thing going on, but lots of complexity here. A soft cloud of champaca, myrhh, vetiver and oude to lay down on, a flash of white, cool peach and the warmth of the black currant paired with amber.

I’m not familiar with the story, but i’m getting real ‘wise/well-traveled woman’ vibes from this.

The vetiver is juuuust there enough for me to be irked by it, unfortunately, but this is beautiful!!

Dude. Yall. lolololol

I sniffed this fresh on my skin and was like,  'MAN, why did I sleep on this all these years?'

A few seconds later while scrolling Halloween movies on Netflix I saw Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy.

Thanks for that, Netflix.

This starts out fresh and tropical with the coconut and a haze of florals, powdery somewhat, but in a pretty and elegant way. There's something almost warm or animalic behind it, not in a stanky way, possibly the amber, myrrh, currant, oude, and vetiver playing together. It is definitely not the peanutty vetiver in many blends.

There's a bit of high end sparkle to it, I kinda see the sharpness mentioned above. Ok, almmost stanky/indolic. It's more about the warmth and softness.

After a few minutes that champaca is really coming out to play with the coconut. I'm really digging this stage. A little powdery still but I still like it.

Later on that peach peaks out. Coconut, peach, incense, florals.

This is nice, yall, very very nice. If that sounds appealing don't sleep on it lol.
