Lovers in a Carp Streamer

Cranberry, thyme, teakwood, mint, cedar, tobacco flower, and red currant.

Quite tart. Eeek. I knew this one wouldn't be one of my favorites. There were too many notes that just wouldn't work for me....

Huh, the tartness goes away pretty quickly and now it is nice and sweet. More of a berry sweetness than candy sweetness. Crazy! Normally the red currant goes incredibly awry on me!

Huh, I don't think I would wear this one too much, but it smells better than I first thought!

This is a really delicious and refreshing cranberry and red currant scent, after it awhile the mint and tobacco come out a little, but it's still very well blended.

I just wish it would last a bit longer on the skin and retain that initial cranberry and red currant scent a little more. I think this will be great for the warmer months.

This one is very pretty from the bottle: a screaming, multimegawatt, crimson Christmas-light that lets you have it up the nose with both barrels.
The Cranberry and Red Currant are conjoined twins of bright succulence, lent a pleasant twinge by the rougher red of Cedar Wood...
Anyone remember the group, "Everything but the Girl"? Well, so far, this is the equivalent of their music oozing from the speakers at sternum-shaking volume during a ride in a purring and shiny-black muscle-car on an open highway at 4 a.m. ...
This is also the foxy brunette nurse you watched enjoy a bright-red lolly (breathe, stupid, breathe!) before she came in to check your blood pressure... After a double-take and a wry grin, she leans in and plants one on you... Delicious!
On the skin, this morphs, quite surreal! The Thyme and Wild Mint surface to transport you into a rich woodland, replete with a glittering stream... Genius!
The Tobacco Flower isn't as prominent here as in other blends, but is there, a carefully placed note, expertly executed. This one is probably more on Her side of the scale, but unisex all the same.
He could probably wear it to the opera ( or Kabuki, maybe?) and pull it off...
This is a pretty gorgeous scent.
Divine product from the Lab.
4.9/5.

Sex in a fish-shaped kite=disaster, at least on my skin. I don't get cranberry. I don't get red currant. I get straight-up LEMON VERBENA (?!?!) which must be that blasted thyme reacting with something and I'm not sure what but it's insanely sharp. Probably the thyme and mint together reacting with the fruit turn into lemon verbena on me. Lovely. And if that isn't enough, I amp cedar to eleven and that starts revealing its hypermasculine self in a couple of seconds--and before any more damage was done, I scrubbed it off.

I knew this would be the one Shunga I would really like this year, and it was very similar to my hopes. I love the smell of Cranberry, it is one of my favorite notes. I'm also one of the rare fans of cedar and teak is always nice. I get tart red berries, (which I personally wish were stronger, but they are perfectly blended) rich woods, and something which I guess is tobacco flower. Happily for me, mint is non-existent.

In the vial – Cedar & tobacco.

On the skin – Sharp and astringent, like aftershave at first, before the cedar settles down. Then it smells like woody fruit.

Dry – Soft dusty woody fruit. Not my thing.

I find Lovers In A Carp Steamer to be OK. I smell cranberry and cedar and tobacco flower. I like all of those things, but I'm not really wowed by this combination. It smells fine, but I'm just not sure how often I would reach for this one.

From tester: cranberry and teakwood! Minty and fresh as well, with a hint of tobacco flower. It's a non-floral floral, and seems to be right up my alley.

Wet on skin: this has a cologney feel, likely because of the mint, but doesn't go all the way to that spectrum, I think because of the teakwood and tobacco flower. It's floral and fruity and minty but never really going into any of those fully--very nicely blended and balanced between the scent families. Gosh...I'm liking this a lot. The teakwood and cedar is grounding this out beautifully, I think. Eeeeeeeee.

Dry: this is really amazing. It's mostly a red fruit scent now, but never tipping into "too much for me"-land. It's very nicely grounded by everything else that it never becomes too fruity. It's elegant and fresh. I don't know why exactly, but it made me think of a cross between Glowing Vulva and The Girl; Glowing Vulva was probably suggested by the teakwood note, but I have no idea why I thought of The Girl, as they don't have any similar notes. It probably has to do with the quality or "feel" of the blend? As it ages, the resins come out a bit more, sweetened by the fruits, and a hint of smokiness from the tobacco flower.

Verdict: gosh, a keeper!

Imp: A sweet berry airy lightly herbal scent, mostly cranberry, a sweet white mint, thyme, and a breath of cedar and tobacco flower. Nice! It's very gender-neutral bordering on masculine, but not in an unwearable way. It reminds a little of a tarter, fruitier Wilde.

Wet: Bright cranberry and sweet red currant, mmm. Making me hungry for berries! Cool not overpowering mint and lovely thyme as well, over a base of sweet tobacco and cedar. This has a very traditional cologne-feel but is much nicer than most screaming loud popular awful man-scents. Like a really expensive body wash with the perfect clean, fruity, herbal and woodsy scent.

Dry: This dries down to a festive, springy, mostly-berries with a bit of woods and herbs, although that description really doesn't do it justice. It's gorgeous and totally unisex in the end, and I will definitely be keeping my imp for Christmas and springtime!

ITI: This strikes me as a clean and fresh scent on first sniff. I can pick out the mint, thyme, and juicy cranberry.

Wet: It's more round on my skin as the tobacco and teakwood show up. The mint and thyme are still dominant, although followed closely by the cranberry and currant.

Dry: It's cranberries and currants, galore! There is some impression of thyme and teakwood, but I'm still really enjoying this scent.

I like this scent -- mostly cranberry and woods on me, and the cranberry seems especially juicy, probably from the red currant.

However, it doesn't stay. At all. I've put on three generous imp wand doses, and I can still barely smell it. No point in wearing perfume you can't smell.
