Pediophobia v1

Recommended Posts

No scent description.

Pediophobia is a fear of dolls or children. On first sniff, this is all perfume with those semi-sharp florals of department store perfumes. HOWEVER. A minute or two on my skin opens up an entirely different scent picture and it's worth exploring. There is a depth beneath this that brings to mind sugar and bubble gum, a hint of peach doll plastic, bright shades of makeup crookedly drawn onto a doll by a young child, girly frills and lace, and florals. Concept-wise, this is dead on. Amazing!

This is well blended. I'm going to guess at notes of apple, hyacinth, lotus, freesia, or lily.

I definitely smell the freesia in this one, which often goes horribly one on me...but here it is tame. There is definitely some lily and lotus mixed with a hint of sweetness. It actually reminds me a bit of what a doll would smell like...minus the gross plastic note. I like it.

I only had a teensy bit to test - and I do believe it has freesia and some fruit in it because it was bright and fruity when I first swabbed it on. In fact, if I had more this would probably have a long throw on me. I am guessing: freesia, perhaps peach and lotus, maybe lily and apple.

It's actually kinda pretty. And very much what I would see a young girl wearing.

Pediophobia v1 - Back in 2005, I encountered a low-end body lotion by Mark called "Hollywood Pink". I absolutely loved it. This smells *exactly* like it (to me). The dominant note is freesia, but it's blended really well with bright, fruity scents -- not citrusy, but more "fuzzy" -- definitely not peach...perhaps apricot? Perhaps nectarine? I think there may be some calla lily in this, too, and maybe a bit of spun sugar. There's also something slightly dark underneath the bright, fruity and floral notes -- maybe a drop or two of dark musk? It's impossible for me to figure out what the notes in this are! Overall, it's a whimsical fruity-floral that's really different from any other BPAL I've ever smelled, and I adore it. Edited by edenssixthday

hmmm I got like an herbal floral at first whiff....then as it dried it seems notes of freesia, and lotus came forward with hints of lilly. This is nice...but it's not floatin mah boat. :(

Sniffed: Extremely pale nearly colourless oil. Slightly soapy, generic smelling floral. Traditional feminine perfume, but sort of clean and fresh - it reminds me of June Gloom.

Wet: Nicer, and I think I get the freesia people have mentioned. I'm also pretty sure there is some green musk in here. Very low throw, unusually low. I think there is a tart citrus note, something sort of zesty, maybe grapefruit? I get a distant dusting of talcum power.

Dry: Very slow to dry. There's a harshness or sharpness to this that isn't abating.

Summary: Finally a bit softer when it finally dries - like June Gloom and 51 it dries down very musky - I feel like there's skin musk in here too, and some of the 'light smashed woods' from 51. It's kinda sexy, actually, and I like it lots once it finally dries. Great longevity.

Light peachy pink, like baby's skin or plastic dolls. There's a floral in here that's been identified by others as freesia, and I'm totally willing to go along with that for lack of other ideas, lol There's also a fresh skin sorta scent, and the very slightest hint of doll head plastic, but not in an unpleasant way, as it turns out. Fresh, clean scent, refreshing and light. This sticks close to the skin after it dries down and just makes me feel clean.

Oh... um... yum?

I'm getting some citrus here, but not like WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH LEMONSGRAPEFRUITSZOMG! Which is something I'm not a huge fan of. Just a a few drops of maybe lemon and lime, smothered in sweetness. And it isn't sugar sweetness, not straight up sugar. Something softer, more fairy floss like.

Good throw. I was sitting here, trying to concentrate on another review and this sweet scent keeps wafting up to my nose. Delicious! This would be a good girly summer scent. Not as obvious as Embalming Fluid, with sugar that won't make you feel claustrophobic and hot.

I want more. MORE!!!

In the decant vial, Pediophobia smells sharp, cheap, perfumey, and slightly soapy. It smells like drugstore floral perfume, but I'm not good with floral notes. If I had to guess, I would have said it reminds me of iris's perfumey sharpness.

On my skin at first, this is clean, sharp, perfumey floral with a hint of sweetness (smells like lotus's bubblegummy sweetness to me). I worried that it would go soapy for a while, but it stays smelling clean without morphing to dish soap. It's like a fresh, clean smelling floral with a drop of lotus and a musky-sweet drydown on me.

This is better on my skin than it is in the bottle, but it's still very much a not-me fragrance. Too much perfumey floral and musky-sharpness for me...

Gosh, I don’t even know how to describe this by individual notes. This is very well blended and smells of sweet florals – not heavy or cloying, not wildflowers…and something aquatic or ozone-ish. There’s a hint of bright amber underneath the ozone/aquatic smell alongside the florals. There’s a bit of a fruity vibe too but the sharpness of the ozone/aquatic notes is strongest alongside the florals. I actually like this though I’d never wear it. It reminds me of how I remember Thunder Moon, with flowers.

Wow. This is just simply stunning. I'm a huge fan of white florals, and this is definitely that. I agree there's just a hint of sweetness here, just enough to knock any sharp edges off the florals. I do think there's some freesia in here, which makes me happy - I adore that scent. Heck, whatever it is makes me happy. :wub2: There is just the slightest hint of baby oil when I sniff my wrists up close, which I suppose is appropriate. So very glad I bid on this lab auction, this is just gorgeous.

This is right up there with all my guilty-pleasure pink scents, with an interesting twist: instead of being straight-up candy, there's something highly reminiscent of that slightly sweet, slightly vinyl new-doll smell which I just happened to love as a kid (seriously--I'd be huffing my dolls straight out of the box). In addition to that there are also traces of cotton candy, bubblegum, strawberry, a bit of vanilla...possibly some soft florals in the background that help it retain that innocent feeling. This is both yummy and nostalgic and I'm loving it! :wub2:

Cavaet: I've lost some of my sense of smell, so I had to wait until a really good nose day until I could get a feel for this one - and also had to enlist a helper (hehe)

This is so light and pretty - when I was a kid, I used to love to smell brand new little dolls - and this definitely captures that sweet plastic (but not in a bad way) new toy smell. It's a very light mixture of florals (which I can't distinguish) - but, I'm also getting a melony-sweet type note (maybe like honeydew). It seems like there is also a soft white musk to ground everything - so soft and spring-like! If you like soft youthful florals or melon-like scents, you should definitely give this one a try :)

I'm going to guess that this has some kind of white musk as a base as it has that sharp, aerosol smell that I associate with scents made from white musk. There is freesia (love) and some kind of light fruits (more love) but the white musk makes this smell like hairspray on me.

Boo.

This smells a lot like Loli.Goth on me! It has that same pink musk and fruits combo which ends up smelling like a sweet and girly fruity musk on me, maybe strawberry, peach and raspberry? There's possibly a few more fruits in this one because it's fruitier and slightly tarter. I also get soft hints of pretty florals now and then, maybe a touch of slightly fuzzy iris, which has an almost vanilla-like scent in the background, I also get very soft woods which come out with time. I'm thankfully not getting the freesia, which I was worried about since it hardly ever works. I was hoping to get the doll's head scent which I strangely like the smell of, but I'm not getting any of it (at least not like I got from the Mimosa single note, which after a while smells exactly like a Barbie's head to me  ). This has really nice throw and amazing longevity! I would keep this but I find it too similar to Loli.Goth which I already have.

This is fruity (peach, strawberry ?) and sweet with a touch of doll vinyl or baby oil and some light, white florals.

I definitely had a perfume or body spray like this in my youth and it also reminds me of some other 'pink smelling' BPALs I've tried including Loligoth, Pink Lace, Shells, and Flowering Peonies.

I like smelling it, but I'm on the fence if I'd actually wear it. If I did wear it, it would be a summertime perfume.

This is not at all like the released Pediophobia, which is a powdery porcelain scent.
