In the bottle: Sweet and spicy! It reminds me quite a bit of my beloved Gingerbread Poppet which is probably why I latched onto it in the midst of the sniffing chaos.

Wet on my skin: Oh. My. Goodness. This is spiced buttercream frosting spread over a warm wooden base to ground it. Frosting/buttercream scents frequently turn to plastic on me, but not this. This is just amazing.

Dry, early on: Sadly all the spices faded away, but I'm still getting the buttercream over the wood. I think the wood is cedar, but it's not smelling like a hamster cage or pencil shavings on me so I'm a happy camper.

Dry, later in the day: The buttercream has morphed into a fainter sweet scent, and the wood is just barely detectable underneath it. At this stage it reminds me a lot of MB: Underpants.

I love this scent, and I really hope it gets released someday so I can stock up more than what I was able to get at the trunk show!

This had to have been the best crazy-coded prototype that was at the Trunk Show.

I put it on in the car on the drive back home and my husband said "Cake, why do I smell cake?" Out of the bottle, I get a butterscotch/butter rum scent (like those lifesavers? mmmm). When I applied it on my skin the butter part of a sugar cookie came on in full force. It's got that cookie/spice/buttery smell that seems to be lacking in Sugar Cookie 05/08 (maybe it's just me, but I'm probably one of the few that thinks SC does not smell like cookie).

I could easily see this one becoming my favorite foodie scent, it's just THAT good.

I agree with Midnight Aeval about the "cake" in this one. It has a buttery, sweet top and also a slight spiciness underneath.

It starts off smelling of rich, delectable cheesecake. Only after 10 minutes or so does the subtle spiciness underneath peek its head. I wonder if this was one of the Yule 08 cookie scents that didn't go live or maybe a prototype of one that did make the list?

It has the same feel as Monsterbait: Closet does to me - a rich, sweetness that never falls into "plastic" territory (I've had the misfortune of some cheesecake or sweet blends do this on my skin) and ending with a spicy edge to keep it grounded.

My guess is a Yule cookie or Monsterbait blend before final "going live" stamp on this one! :yum:

Lots of love to a special forumite (who will go un-named atm) who sent me a sniffie of this beauty. Thanks for your generosity and the chance to try this out.

Okay...my skin chemistry didn't cooperate with this one.

In the vial there was a strong buttery note to it. On wet, it was very vanilla and oatmeal, and more doughy than cakey in my mind. As it dried, I definitely got a 'strong' oatmeal note and it started to smell like this amazing oatmeal raisin cookie dough, but just a teensy bit salty.

After about forty minutes, the vanilla went to plastic, and it smelled like plastic oatmeal. :cry2: Even my husband agreed with me and asked "What happened? It smelled like cookies a few minutes ago!"

No yummy carrot cake. No buttercream. Just... *sigh*

Heartbroken. Woe is me.

Hazarding a guess, I got a strong oatmeal from this, so perhaps this was kin to the Sleepy Hollow blend, Gunpowder which was eventually released.

Sniffing the bottle, it's a spicy cake scent.

On my skin, Carrot Cake with Buttercream frosting. I have the urge to gnaw on my wrist. :yum:

PPGC92 - Sniffing it in the decant vial, it smells like spicy cinnamon oatmeal raisin cookies. It smells amazing! But the instant it touches my skin, it looses all of it's yummy goodness and turns into a terribly "flat" artificial-smelling spicy-dusty-buttery-plastic scent. If I had it in bottle form, I'd totally wear it in a scent locket. As I only have an imp, it's sadly off to the swap pile.

I'm totally surprised this scent isn't incredibly popular! It's jumped right to the top of my 10 favorite scents list :yum:

In the Bottle: BUTTERCREAM!!! I have tested every foody scent that BPAL has ever made (including prototypes) and I have never smelled a buttercream note as rich, sweet, or decadent as this one. There is also a hint of black pepper and cinnamon

Wet on Skin: black pepper (in the foreground now and a little stronger than I would like it to be), buttercream (still a very prominent note), cinnamon (still pretty much in the background), and I'm also beginning to smell cake batter

Dry: buttercream (once again the strongest note), black pepper (has backed off very quickly, but is still a fairly prominent note), cinnamon and cake batter (both a little stronger). Several hours later, the black pepper, cinnamon, and cake batter begin to fade. Nearing the end of this scent's life (it lasts about 5 hrs on me), I smell buttercream and an almost cotton candy-like sweetness, with a little black pepper and just a hint of cinnamon

I can kind of understand the reviews I've seen comparing this to carrot cake, but as I mentioned before, I don't smell any baked cake, only an un-baked batter. Also, I hate carrot cake, so I refuse to think of that this amazing scent may have anything to do with that atrocity....... no, I don't like vegetables in my dessert

I believe that the note I'm interpreting as cake batter is the note that several other reviewers have interpreted as oatmeal cookie. If I try, I can kind of imagine the note as oatmeal cookie dough, but to my nose, it still smells much more like cake batter

I've also read reviews of cedar and raisins, but no matter how hard I sniff I can't smell even the slightest hint of those notes

If you are not a foody, I suggest you stay away from this scent. But if you are a foody, you absolutely MUST try this!!! :wub2:

It smells like spices from gingerbread ... lots of cinnamon. Not too sweet, but enough to keep it from being bitter. Not sweet enough for me.

The brown of cooking spices and sticky cinnamon buns--which is exactly what it smells like. With the flaky of the pastry and the gooey of the sweet and cinnamon and powdered sugar. I can even smell the butter and the bits of the dough that are still doughy and not fully baked. Likeses it.

Bizforbrent was so kind as to send me testers of this and a couple of other scents after the first Cobwebs event.

Straight from the vial this is amazingly wonderful foody creaminess and spice… a little reminiscent of Sugar Cookie 08 or maybe Butter Rum Cookie, but with a whiff of Gingerbread Poppet thrown in to boot. Very foody creamy cake batter-y.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't the slightest bit relieved that this dries down plastic on me, the same way an earlier version of Sugar Cookie did and that Underpants did. There's a note in some of these foody scents which just doesn't agree with me... a certain type of vanilla perhaps... because they either are yummy or they are plastic, and it seems there's no way to know in advance which it's gonna be. I think I could instead layer Sugar Cookie 08 with Gingerbread Poppet and have something both close to this and yet functional on my skin.

Even though this one didn't work out I am very glad to have had the chance to try it, 'cause now I know it's one of *those* foody scents, and I don't have to covet it anymore. ;)

This is all I have to say: buttery yellow cake fused with pumpkin pie and a dash of extra spice. That's what this stuff is. Literally made my mouth water when I put it on. If anyone has a lone unwanted bottle pining away in your drawer somewhere, well, you know where to go... ;)

This smells like spice cookies on me at first, but it somehow smells like raw cookie dough more than warm, baked cookies. As it dries down, it smells like spice cookie dough dunked in butter and rolled in cinnamon (reminds me of bpal's buttery pumpkin note a little). My skin is amping up the spice notes in this, but it's not unpleasant. My husband hates the buttery qualities of this scent, though. I kind of wish that the scent were less spicy and a bit sweeter. I might use up my decant in an oil warmer, as I think it might make a better room scent than a perfume for me...

I was frimped a testable sniffie of this one and it has been quite the surprise. I generally am repulsed by most foodie scents both in bottle and on the skin.

In the bottle: Why am I attracted to this? There is a definite buttercream quality, along with some subtle spice. Maybe a nutty praline quality too?

Wet: A slightly less foody version of what I smelled in the bottle. There is some sort of wood or balsam emerging that is grounding this. It reminds me of what made me fall in love with Velvet-- maybe a sandalwood note?

Dry: More of the wood note emerging, but this is by no means an earthy scent. There is still a buttercream or nutty quality but it is not terribly sweet on the skin.

After about an hour: This reminds me of the drydown of Succor if it was mixed with a foody cookie sort of scent. Perhaps there is a balsam in here after all, as balsams almost always work on me. It is pleasantly like a nutty sugar cookie with just a bit of a comforting sweet wood or balsam. Definitely a soft foodie scent with not a ton of sillage. This is an unexpected winner for me. Arrg, now I have to find a bottle..

Was able to get an imp of this AND Cake Smash v6 together and test drove the two together in search of the perfect cakey-ness ...

IN THE BOTTLE: Wow. Very complicated and I'm getting an array of notes from the imp. First I think caramel frosting but then I also get spicy poundcake.

Dabbed on wrist and in crook of arm.

WET: Definitely getting a caramel/burnt sugar note VERY strong on my skin. It's not a washoff, though, because of the big background sweet spice note. I would never have placed it as ginger or gingerbread without other reviews, I admit, but I can see that might be it.

DRYDOWN: I find this to be sweet on my wrist but creamier in the crook of my arm.

OVERALL: Like, don't love. Caramel, which I love to EAT, is not a good note for me. And it amps a LOT.

On a scale of 1-5, about a 2.5.

Wet: definitely cake. pumpkin spice wiggles it's way forward slowly.

drydown: dry and spicy cake

wet: the vanilla goes plasticy, sadly. It's a nice pumpkin cake/bread in the background, though.
