Blah, sniffing the imp literally made me gag.. what is that?

It's sharp, a bit floral, on my skin. Hmm.. is that myrrh? It gets a little minty at times, as well.. Definitely getting something that reminds me of The Organ Grinder, sarsaparilla I think. It eventually turns into a sarsaparilla and vanilla sort of scent, warm and a bit dry. It was okay, it grew on me a bit more as I wore it, but in the end it doesn't really seem to work out for me.

Sniffed: Light yellow oil. Sweet and anisey - actually it reminds me of Humbug a bit, but less heavy on the vanilla.

Wet: A bit sweeter, more vanillic - though it's still a different note from Humbug's vanilla. The anise here isn't licorice, but more herbal, either anise or fennel - but the distinction isn't huge. A tad medicinal, but pleasantly.

Dry: Actually, this becomes sweeter and more vanillic over time, with a slightly warm, powdery edge that makes me suspect a well-behaved amber - sort of like the one in L'Estate.

Later: I get a strong honeyed beeswax note (not sure why I'm only noticing this now...) and a slightly bitter greenness, sort of wormwoody - oh, this reminds me of La Fée Verte! Except more vanilla-y. I agree that it feels resinous, as others have noted.

Summary: Love the nearly SN honey-beeswax drydown - but the amber starts to take on the plastic edge I associate with O. It takes ages to dry, and then it starts to fade very rapidly. It's never sickly, but it doesn't quite work.

This is pure sweet beeswax on me. I think there may be frankincense deep in the background here, and some light floral as well. There is a herbal note in the wet stages that I believe may be anise like fairnymph suggested. It's lovely, and as it dries it just gets smoother and creamier.

I haven't tried this since I received the imp from the lab. At the time the honey was too overpowering, but now it's a light honey, frankincense, lemon balm and rootbeer scent. Yum.

In the Vial: Slightly sweet. Is my sniffer broken?

Wet: Still sweet.

Drydown: Er, did I really apply oil?!

Verdict: I guess this is nice. If I, er, could smell anything. I dunno why, but I just can't smell anything!

ETA: Now that I've read some of these reviews, I'm a little sad that I didn't really get the beeswax others did. I've loved a few beeswax containing blends (Hanerot Halalu, Hand of Glory) and might have kept this special imp around if I got that note from it. Ah well, it's gone to a new home and hopefully I'll have a new love soon in its place.

HONEY. Very strong honey on my skin. As it dries, it softens and takes on a creamy vanilla & honey quality. This is my favorite of the Political Party frimps from 2008.

Honey beeswax, maybe a little vanilla. Sweet and not overpowering. I really like it, but it was just a sniffie.

I agree that there's a strong honey/beeswax/vanilla scent to this, but it quickly grows into a plastic smell that I associate with Snow White. It's pleasant, but not something I think I'd ever really wear. Which is probably for the best, considering you can only find this scent in imp form!

Frimped from the costume contest at DSWC!

Honey or waxy honeycomb, rootbeer, and a sweet, dusty herbal note like Roman chamomile or hyssop. A hint of wood in here too.

In the spirit of the Lab's descriptions.... This smells like sweet honeyed promises, a big swig of Aunt Ruby's home-brewed sasparilla, and sunshine beating down on the fresh-mowed meadow and the rickety wooden bandstand where the candidate is stumping. Hee.

Honey hates me, so this will never work, but it's fun to pick out the metaphors.

:::DEMOCRAT:::

Another Limited Edition blend with no notes listed by the Lab...

Difficult, it is, whether to wriggle or perspire. Being neither Democrat nor Republican, it will be an adventure to interpret this blend.

One wonders, will this prove the stuff of 'Yes We Can' or 'I did not inhale'...

From the Imp: Spearmint? Amber? Vanilla? Sasparilla? Bright green and creamy, to be sure!

There are also insinuations of Cardamom and Apple Peel.

A gamble at picking out the drier spice element would indicate something in the vein of Allspice or Clove.

Democrat seems to portray something medicinal... Something of the Apothecary persuasion.

On the Skin: In addition to the usual suspects, things like Pine, Cedar, Juniper, Violet, and Passion Flower illuminates the whole. Very intriguing, Democrat!

As it mellows, Democrat's floral profile does a bit of perking up and playfully batting the other notes into submission.

Spectrally, Democrat is mint-green, cream, and violet. A ridiculously sexy botanist!

Democrat is aphrodisiacal hard candy.

Democrat is the hedonistic liberator of quivering restraint.

Democrat loosens the fetters that deprive the very soul of life's manifold delicious facets.

Democrat is a lip-licking sigh accompanied by a feverish, moist grinding.

On Her, Democrat makes the boys drop to their knees and moan with the prospect of coming undone.

On Him, Democrat is the capricious flicker of taste buds at the back of the knees, the small of the belly, and the hip-bone.

Democrat is nothing short of wonderful.

Many thanks to Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab for their ceaseless contributions to beautifying the world.

10 out of 10.

Just found some of this, so it's pretty well-aged at this point. I haven't smelled O for years, I loved fresh O but it would start to smell cloying on me after I had it a few months for some reason. This smells exactly like that fresh O, and it's wonderful - a clean wildflower honey (not sticky at all), amber and vanilla with some sort of light flowery note to balance it. Lovely.

On me, this smells like a HUGE wallop of honey, with maybe something soft and powdery behind it. Probably some sort of amber -- ambers often turn powdery on me.

I know lots of you guys are crazy for the BPAL honey note, but my skin chemistry has never been fond of it. It tends to smell more like play-doh than honey on my skin. So... although this is honestly one of the few honey perfumes I actually like, I'll pass it along. I'm sure someone else will adore this when she wears it.
