Sorry to post 'n' run, but life's a bit hectic...

From postings here on the forum, and from a Bat's Day a couple years back, I saw the wonderful work of Milling in Line (on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/millinginline) and I knew I wanted desperately to get a custom cabinet. But I just can't afford it so I was absolutely blown away when my fiancé got it for me as a Valentine's Day gift (Feb 2012).

It's taken the genius "inventor" and master craftsman a few iterations until I received this AMAZING BPAL cabinet. We discussed a few options, and I knew of the options I couldn't live with myself if I didn't go with what my heart truly desired.

(Photos were snagged by Milling in Line as my own photos don't look great. Mind you, this cabinet is so much greater in person, I can't even describe. My fiancé who is NOT a Doctor Who fan was absolutely bamboozled with how awesome this TARDIS is. He didn't want a "big blue box" in the bedroom but when we got it, he was totally blown away by how amazing this piece is. :D)

Love the Tardis!

TARDIS!!!!!

OHMYGOSH. That is amazing! I love Doctor Who but am more loyal to other TV shows (Supernatural ahem...) but wow that is absolutely gorgeous! MillinginLine's BPAL storage boxes are just beautiful! I came to the thread here about to post my own box images, and was just struck by yours :wub2: So awesome!

Anywho... The reason I came to this thread in the first place! Here is my BPAL box with all my bottles! I really need to find a sturdier box for my precious because this one got a little beat up when I brought it back home from university, but it fits the perfect amount of oils for me and the taller 10ml bottles along with smaller roller bottles on the side, so it kind of is perfect. I also love the floral designs on the box.

The way I organize my oils is a little ridiculous. I like having this VERY organized so I use a lot of label colors. The labels also have a few little drawings on them here and there and just fun ways to write the words to make them more interesting :) Here is a key for the label colors...
Orange - Carnaval Diabolique
Light Pink - Lupercalia
Dark Blue - Yules
Green - Weenies
Red/Hot Pink - LE that isn't a Yule Lupercalia or Weenie, discontinued, and BPTP
Light Blue - GC
White - Lunacy blends AND Nocturne Alchemy perfumes
Yellow - Other companies besides BPAL and Nocturne Alchemy

Here are some recent photos of my collection and how I organise it.

http://img.photobuck...ry/IMGP3268.jpg

http://img.photobuck...ry/IMGP3269.jpg

The wooden display cases hold some of my rare favourites. The white wooden display case is my 'seasonal wardrobe' - where Yules, Weenies, Lupers etc go.

The pink stripy stack boxes on the left side divide my collection up so I can find things more easily. The sections are 'Yule', 'Horror', 'Darkness', 'Halloween', 'Carnaval', 'Snow', 'Light', 'Truffles' and 'Lunacy'.

Atop those, there are two white boxes. The lower one contains Conjure Bag oils and imps, some of which have been decanted into coloured rollerball bottles. The box above that contains all of my Lupers and 'Ars Amatoria' bottles and imps.

Above those boxes, there is a little box that contains my atmosphere spray goblin squirts, rare decants and rare imps.

The little wooden box above that contain back-ups of rare scents and on top of that, there are two zipper bags that contain all of my CG imps.

I store my Trading Post sprays, oils and other fancy things both here on this 'BPAL altar' and in my bathroom.

Oh my! I'd give my left kidney for that kind of stash! Hmm... I wonder how much kidneys go for...

This is the lid. It's so hard to photograph as it's a fairly dark picture, but it's a library with ladders and candles. As my life seems to revolve around the magic of books, and the fact that I'm in grad school to be a school librarian, and I'd like to surround my life with them, I thought it made the most sense to do something with books. The detail is magnificent and I love how the candles legitimately look like they are burning.

http://farm7.static...._846377626a.jpg
She also painted my name on the side for me, as a personal touch, since it's not like I'll ever sell it. I found a font online and she managed to replicate it splendidly!

http://farm7.static...._03fde5df82.jpg
And here's the inside. It looks like it'll hold roughly ~80 bottles, which is way more than enough! I am getting some labels in the mail any day now so I can know what the bottles are without having to paw through them. The top box on the side is for keeper/memorable imps and decants. The second and third are for sales. I'm also going to purchase some aquarium gravel, I think, and use it to hold the little boogers up.

Pleased as punch!

This is lovely! I have a soft spot for books.

I've yet to do a proper full photo etc of my BPAL side table (it's an IKEA rolling side table thing), but while my actual boxes have not changed a whole lot, I think I'm generally in a good, this-works-for-my-everyday-use position as to organizing my beloved oils.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/95416/bpal-labels/oldlabel-sml.png

This is my main BPAL box (click to enlarge!). This is what I open every morning. I should move out the imps (two stories high now, egads) somewhere else; but while I don't have enough roller bottles to house usable amounts of all my blends yet, this will do.

Along the top, you might notice are some colored dot labels. I believe it was Ellebelle who gave me the idea for this! Green are exclusives (forum, retail, event, etsy exclusives), yellow are LEs, blue are SEs (GCs that are more expensive), red are discons, and white are GCs. I have these labels for the big 5mls, but I couldn't find sufficient smaller labels for my roller bottles (all in blue).

Last night I had gone to a big art store to find wrapping materials (and I found a few organza bags! yay!), and I also found 12mm colored labels! So last night, I went to work on relabelling my roller bottles. And of course, I had to draw a little too. I drew out labels for all my current bottle scents, even though I don't have any roller bottles for some (either due to not enough roller bottles, or not having any of the scent other than a sniffie).

So--ta-da!

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/95416/bpal-labels/relabelled-sml.png

I have since put them in some semblance of order, similar colors in the same general area.

If anyone's interested in seeing all the labels I wrote/drew out last night (big images are like 2000px wide! small are 500px):

Discons: big, small
Exclusives: big, small
General catalog: big, small
Limited editions: big, small - also see the pink alien claw of doom!
Special eds/unimpables: big, small

Oh, the labels (swoon)

I posted this on LJ a while back, but here it is here in case someone didn't see. My boyfriend is quite handy and he made this two drawer box for me to my specifications. I wanted to have one drawer for imps and one drawer for bottles. I asked that it be able to hold about 100-150 bottles (not including backups or sales, of course! shhhh). (ETA: I counted, and it will hold 192 bottles.) For the imps, I asked that the holders be removable, that there would be enough space between the imps so that I could put tags on them and that there be some space so that I could flip through them while looking for something in particular. An lo! Here is what he made:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2139/5819802976_1552c294e1.jpg
Photo in original size

The top left is the exterior. The box is made of maple plywood that he painted white. This was actually his prototype; the BF said he'd make a duplicate of this box out of real maple or oak and stain it, but I liked the white because it matches my IKEA dressers. The inside is flocked with blood red flocking.

The top right is the bottle drawer, designed to be the height of one of my roller bottles. I color code my bottles, so red is GC, yellow-orange is LE, green is "one offs" - lunacies, event exclusives and protos, and white is non-BPAL. I organize my bottles in rows by scent family and you can see the stickers on the front of the box indicating which section I am in (categories include: fruity, vanilla/honey, resins, green, "fall", snow, fizzy, foody, rose florals, "adult" florals, and other.) The roller bottles in the front right corner and where I accumulate my duplicate GCs when I like something, but not enough to buy a bottle. I combine imps with no thought of aging and nothing smells bad, so I think it's okay.

The bottom left shows one of the individual imp holders with my labels on them. Each holder holds 8 imps. I tried to organize by category, but I'm constantly getting new imps, or combining imps into bottles, or deciding that, no, I don't really need to keep that, so the organization is not quite as good as for the bottles.

The bottom right is just a shot of the entire drawer full of imps. The drawer is designed to be the height (+ a little) of a standard imp.

Hopefully this will give some of you some ideas!

This is the box I keep my imps in. :) I only have one 5 ml bottle right now, so it just sits off to the side and looks pretty. Until I get more 5 mls, then there will have to be a new box solution!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2200/5720033946_119c347e6c_z.jpg
And this is where I keep the imps I have tested and am not a fan of. ;)

That's hilarious!

I got a new BPAL box!! It's a wooden box with a dome top, carved with the tree of life (kind of). It's gorgeous! Can't wait to get some pictures I can post.

Edit: Found a picture of it online after some serious googling.

It fits 7 x 8 bottles, with a bit of room to spare on each side (not that I have nearly that many bottles yet!!)

How nice!

(My first post. Hello everyone! :-)) *waves*

I just put this together 5 minutes ago, with a ton of samples that I got today in the mail. :-D :-D :-D (Already must buy a 2nd box, as more samples will continue coming!)

Ahhhhh, I was so excited to have come up with something cool and original, but as it turns out, I searched the forum and several people are already doing something similar... Oh well, the idea was mine, regardless of originality!

A box with lid + sand = samples standing up in a dark home.

http://i1138.photobu.../IMG_3171sm.jpg

http://i1138.photobu.../IMG_3174sm.jpg

http://i1138.photobu.../IMG_3173sm.jpg

http://i1138.photobu.../IMG_3175sm.jpg

http://i1138.photobu.../IMG_3176sm.jpg

Cost: $2.50 for the box and $2.00 for the sand.

Regular dry sand probably works just as well, but I live in downtown Sydney, so no sand to be found in my proximity... Coarse sea salt might work really well too.

Ideas for the "filling" that I thought of and discarded: dirt (that would stain the pretty labels, and it would make the vials gross), Play-Dough (I might try that someday; why not? I don't think it would stick, or otherwise get the vials or labels dirty); little rocks (would do in a pinch, but finer stuff is better); sugar (the ants would have a party!).

I've heard about ammo boxes, but unfortunately here in Australia, guns are not allowed... dammit... my husband used to be a gun nut in the US, with soooooo many ammo boxes to choose from, some super cute, but I never kept any because they had no use for me.

An alternative idea, given by my husband: cutting thick straws (1 inch long?) and taping them together. The samples would definitely stand. At least in my head, the final item looks really cute. :-)

Very pretty!

Very pretty and sturdy! The two center doors are just a tiny bit finicky about closing without obstructing each other (I find it helps to shut them as best I can and latch them, then put my hands on both sides of the box and straighten out the alignment), but not a big deal at all. I think it's bound to happen with a folding book sort of design like this. :)

I'm quickly becoming obsessed with these boxes! I asked my DH if he thought he could make me something similar and he said he'd try so yay! Now I just need to decide on a theme.

I posted just a little further up with a picture of what my current storage solution looked like. While the boxes are pretty and relatively accessible, I was really looking at some kind of wall unit as a way of maximizing space, and my boyfriend finally had the time to build me something this weekend. This is the result:

What it looks like face-on. I wanted something that would looks like pretty wall art.

Open and empty.

Lol, let me see what I can do....

It's actually a really super simple design. I can't give you precise measurements, because it's going to depend on how much wall space and how many bottles. Just remember to factor in enough space between shelves to remove the bottles easily - an extra inch or so should do it.

The materials are basically this:

- Some sort of pretty paper, fabric or a print if you want to make it a covert wall-art type of thing. You'll basically just glue it on.
- Two pieces of MDF board, about 1/4 of an inch thick. (Much thicker will be too heavy, too thin and it might warp a bit.) One will be the backing, the other will be the door.
- Good quality hard-wood for the actual cabinetry - the shelves and outer frame.
- Simple molding strips, for the door frame. You'll cut it into four pieces to make a picture frame. It looks best if it extends an inch on each side, so get something that is a few inches wide.
- Very thin molding strips, to place on the edge of the shelves. This can be both decorative, and functional - it will provide a lip for the edge of the shelf, and help keep the bottles from sliding too much forward. (If you're adding this, your shelves will be just a little less deep than the outer frame, so that the door can close neatly.)
- Some sort of hinge.
- A stick and eye bolt thing, for the rod to hold it open if you're doing a vertical door like mine.
- Paint or varnish.
- Anchor screws to make sure the weight can be held up. We used 8 in total - 3 on each side, and two in the middle.

Extras:
- If you want to keep the door more tightly closed, a couple of magnets to affix to the lower corners.
- Instead of framing paper or a print, you can get some batting, fabric and ribbon and make the door a memory board instead.
- If you paint the door with magnetic paint before covering with fabric or paper, you can also have a magnetic memory board.

I'm not really sure how to describe putting it together.

Thank you.

I love that wall cabinet. If I wasn't the world's worst handyman, I'd try to build one. For now I just have vertically stacked terrible Lipper 'kitchen utensil inserts' made of bamboo that actually work wonderful for BPAL.

The cabinet is all like 'no, I don't have that many BPA... wait, SURPRISE I am inundated' (awesome).

I need a handy significant other :)

Does anyone have any ideas for reconfigurable drawer dividers? The drawers in my "ultimate BPAL chest" are 13 1/2 x 11 x 4" deep. We lined them, but now the bottles don't stand up, so I want/need drawer dividers, but they need to be reconfigurable, because I keep getting more perfume! I'd also like them to be very shallow, so I can maybe see enough labels to know what I'm grabbing, instead of picking up every bottle and reading it.

That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pretty :wub2:

I have a small box embossed with roses a lot like the yours. It's smaller, and doesn't have the cool middle part with the handle, and I colored the embossed roses/leaves with markers, but it's perfect for keeping my favorite leather-noted bottles in:

I just got a box from Ikea for storing 5ml bottles. This box looks like it could hold at least 100 bottles, as I have about 25-30 of mine in there and they only fill about a quarter of the box. It's rectangular with a little label holder on the outside, so you could store LE bottles in one, GC in another, etc. Mine is grey, but other sizes come in different colours. The name of the line is PALLRA.

I'm still really new to all this, so my collection is just a little tiny thing compared to what other people have been posting! It's currently residing in the box my 3DS came in (I tend to save boxes a lot and the either reuse them to store things or tear them up and use the cardboard for other projects)

I think after my next order I'm going to have to start making labels for the lids

I similar ones (I like the riser ones), too - mostly for my most frequently worn scents. I like that the rows are staggered.

Recently found that old, wooden cigar boxes are great for storing BPAL's. I have two 3" deep ones for my 5ml bottles - one for GC's and one for LE's.

Then I found shallower ones for my imps - one for imps I have yet to test, one for imps for swap, and one for keeper imps. ;)

I posted this pic the other day in the BPAL Chatter section topic "Show Us Your BPAL Stash", but then I stumbled onto this thread. So here's my little stockpile. It's small (to some) and I like it that way. I want to be able to always fit all my bottles on these two shelves.

I'm pretty happy with my solution!

It was a happy accident. I was planning to get a larger plain wood box at michael's because I have two bottles now and planning on a third and like 4 more after that, and they've been just sitting out in the light. The imps I always had in the little wood box, but I plan on getting a proper ammo case for them, and I wanted something to fit all of that too.

So michael's happened to have these pretty storage boxes on sale for ~4 dollars with my coupon, and I love that it perfectly fits my current wooden imp box!

(I selected a larger one because I wanted room for expansion. Probably a bad move? Eheh.)

The box has my loved imps and the bag is the "I hate these" imps.

I've only been collecting since Dec and I'm ruthless with my imps, so my collection is teeny :) (I'm also making min wage right now, so :/)
