Just would like some ideas on how all of you seasoned BPAL junkies store your goods. My house is small and crowded with tons of stuff. I need some ideas please. I have VERY little storage room.

ETA... Making/decorating your own perfume boxes is also available for the discussion of making or decorating your own boxes.

Ok I'm in the same boat. I put mine under the bathroom sink in the very back, I also don't tell people who know where I live where they are!!!

I used a set of spice racks when I ran out of space on my makeup table!

I have a fairly good sized silver plate ornate jewelry box that I have a ton of the sample vials stored in...it keeps them neatly organized, but the downside is I keep forgetting they are there.

I have a beautiful Indian box a friend gave me that is just the right height for the 5ml bottles to stand up in, even if I close the lid.

I keep my perfumes in there - it's dark, cool, and decorative.

that's what my "storage container" looks like

well, did before i went home and gave about 13 of them away (the chunk south west of the line that can be made from the loviatar sample to the snake oil were christmas gifts). and then i went through the rest and gave the ones that i disliked/liked but not on me or as a room scent to my mom.

LOL mine are still sitting in the USPS box they came in. Well almost. After a while I consolidated boxes.

Organizing clutter isn't exactly mine strong point. I'm so bad about it that every psychic I've ever seen has told me to clean my room despite the fact that I have a neat and orderly personal appearance. LOL

Join the club!! USPS box ahoy...although I found this container at the Sanrio store of Little Twin Stars that looks cool, dry and perfect for my perfumes.

Also what about one of those small wicker baskets you see at places like CLAIRE'S ?

At the moment, mine are in plastic sandwich bags. :D I have three "categories" - ones I'm keeping, which are in a plastic sandwich bag inside a black makeup case beside my sink; ones I haven't tried yet, which are in a plastic sandwich bag inside the little metal basket where I keep my everyday makeup; and ones I plan to swap, which are in a plastic sandwich bag in the medicine cabinet.

The keepers bag smells mostly like Spooky and Siren - foody and gorgeous. The swapping bag at the moment contains only my sample of Phantom Queen (which I'll post on in a bit), and the new stuff bag is all floral and dark. Strange. :P

I have a little brassbound wooden box that has three compartments for samples. It was originally a spice box from Oxfam. It keeps the sample bottles upright if there's three or more in each compartment, and it mean I can categorise them into scent types/mood.

I took one of the boxes they were shipped in, taped it shut, painted it, and poked holes in it with a pencil. The sample bottles fit right in and they stay upright. (I trimmed the strings. The bottles kept getting stuck together.)
I like building things...so I'm planning on making a new holder out of wood.

Wow, I wish I was handy like that. But I fail miserably at anything remotely craftsy. And if it involves a hammer and nails? Forget it! I'm completely helpless.

I currently store them in an empty Lush pot, label removed, as its dark as Elizabeth advised. Unfortunately it has the disadvantage of me having to tip the contents of the pot out to find the ones I want. Haven't had a spillage yet...

_dark_cello_ that is so innovative! Brilliant idea!

I had my last USPS box sitting here so I had to give dark_cello's invention a try - and it's perfect. I didn't paint mine first, so it's not too pretty, but it fits perfectly if I stand it on end on the top shelf of my medicine cabinet, and it'll be SO much easier to find things than digging through the little bags.

Thanks for the idea! Cutting the strings definitely helps.

I received a small gift box (about 6" square, and 4" high) in the mail yesterday that I am planning to convert...adding a little shelf inside the bottom of it to poke holes in (thanks to _dark_cello_ for the inspiration on this), and that way my sample vials won't be falling all over the place, but they will still be covered and in a dark spot. The nice thing about this box is it is silver, so I don't have to paint it. I have no idea how many it will hold, though...I am guessing maybe 20-25 of the sample vials...hopefully more as I have close to twice that many!

I have a heart-shaped wicker basket that I use. I think it originally was used to store candles. I keep it in my bathroom pantry so at least it's dark. I'd like to find something a little more box-like, though.

My father smokes cigars and has a big stash of cigar boxes. I have been decorating them and giving them to friends as keepsake boxes. I have one box that is waiting for inspiration to strike and that is where I keep mine.

I'm thinking I'll have to see about printing copies of the pictures used on the BPAL site to use as decoupage and drill a little shelf to put inside to hold the imps in place.

I've tossed mine into a tiny wicker basket, along with some other fragrances I have. It's perfect!
