Thinking about really good natural food stores like Natural Grocers or Whole Foods, if you could have ANY bath and beauty or body care items, what would you love?
I like some of the green beaver products.
Also what kind of treats, snacks, foods, condiments, bulk items, teas, housewares from the same natural food stores would you love?
I love bright crawlers, but only buy them on road trips! Delicious olive oil or maple syrups would be welcome. Macadmia nuts are a LOVE. I also really like those baked chickpea snacks. I don't know - I just like snacks.
Also, are there any particular sustainable kitchen or household items you would love to receive?
Reusable sandwich bags! That's all I can think of at the moment.

If there is something you think would be especially amazing for me? I use eyeshadows in pinks and tans, mascara, lip colored lip glosses and light blushes.

Speaking of OOS/Discontinued - Are there any old favorites from no longer operating companies that you would like if either anyone had a stash OR could find a reasonable dupe? HAUNT. I miss you Haunt, I miss you so much. Collectors Cabinet and Witch Wife are favorites - scrubs in particular. I still have some oils and glosses but seriously - I would take any haunt scrub you could find. I just used my last one.
Booze, yea or nay? Favorite kinds? Yay! I like anything "interesting" - infusions, interesting bitters, etc. I also love gins and bourbons. And wine. And beer. Ok, I love it all.
Knitted stuff? Need/want anything specific? Colors? Sure! I love knitted things. Scarves and hats are best in a less chunky yarn. Color question is in my survey.
Feelings re: Lewis Carroll/Alice in Wonderland? Love it, hate it, meh it? I like it but I have no strong love/hate feelings.

I just recently discovered MoonMagic -jewelry with a focus on moonstones but also opals and labradorite. They currently have a sale. Anything that stands out to you? (moonmagic.com) I generally love jewerly. I wear necklaces most often, usually silver, love all stones. I leave this at my witch's discretion!
Do you like quirky socks? Any preferred styles (ankle, thigh-high..)? Socks are always great! I usually wear ankle or crew cut and often love fun patterns.

Pumpkin?
I am not a fan of the pumpkin in scents, I'm sorry to say. I like things like pumpkin muffins and cookies, etc, but only very rarely like it in perfumes. Marshmallow Pumpkin and White Pumpkin Extrait are the only two perfumes that come to mind that I've liked that have pumpkin in it. I'm ambivalent about pumpkin in candles and room sprays, but again it is not my favorite. If there is something that you LOVE, dear witch, that has pumpkin in it, I'm happy to give it a try - but maybe a sample.
Booze?
I <3 all the booze!
beer: I live in Grand Rapids, which is quite the beer city. I'm fond of pretty much all dark beers, and Belgian style beers (Saisons, farmhouse, dunkels, etc). I'm not too fond of Hefes (sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't), and I hate IPAs. If anyone is on untappd, you can find me there with ALL the beer check ins. I loves it.
wine: I love wine too! My favorites are heavy reds, like cabs. I typically don't like weak reds (like pinot noir), or reds that are particularly tannic (like shiraz). For whites, I prefer dry/tart whites, particularly oaked chardonnays, and dryer reislings. I do not typically like the typically grassy/sweetish whites like pinot grigio or sauvingon blanc. I do like dessert wines a lot though, and pretty much anything sparkly.
cider: I like dry cider. I do not like woodchuck and the like, but pretty much everything else is fine. I also love trying other kinds of fruit wines/ciders.
mead: Om nom nom. Sweet or dry, I like it all. If something is too sweet, I just cut it with something dry and sparkling and make an alcoholic mead spritzer. If you haven't tried this, you should!
spirits: I love craft spirits, so if there is something local, I'd love to try it. I'm particular to bourbon, gin, and tequila, but I'll try anything. I love a good cocktail - and good cocktail means that I like my booze mixed with booze and maybe a squeeze of citrus, not with lots of sugary stuff.
Want anything from Yellowstone? Be it postcards, key chains, shot glasses, pint glasses, or huckleberry what have you?
I was just there, so I'm good. If there is something you think I might like, I'm all for it.

What are your coffee and tea preferences? Do you prefer one, the other, both, or neither (and if it's neither, what about things like hot cider and cocoa)? Loose leaf or bags, whole bean or ground? I'm not a tea drinker, and the tea will go to waste. I love coffee, I drink it all day every day. I prefer beans, but ground is fine (I have a burr grinder). I'm not huge on flavored coffee, but if there is something you think I might like, I will try it!
What's your sense of humor like? Do you enjoy puns? Play on words? Dirty humor? Dry humor? Who are some of your favorite comedians?
I like smart humor and satire best of all. I'm not really big on slapstick humor. I love Jon Stewart - I once saw him do stand up, and he was amazing. I also loved the Daily Show. I find John Oliver to be very funny as well. Once when I was traveling for work, I accidentally erased my entire music collection at the beginning of a long trip. Someone else who was there gave me his whole collection so I'd have something to listen to, and he had a Bill Hicks compilation and that is possibly the funniest things I've ever listened to. Dear future witch, if you are one that is not offended by humor that is full of swear words, or humor that mocks people who are rigidly religious, you should listen to some of the clips.
Do you like board games? If so, which ones? Traditional or more unique? (like Settlers of Catan, Small World, Red Dragon Inn, etc)
I do like board games, but I rarely play them what with not having children or (more recently) an S.O. When I have friends over, we like Cards Against Humanity a lot, and I don't have my own set. I also like word games, like scrabble, or taboo, or scattergories, or things like that.
Is there anything that you specifically do NOT want to receive?
I have enough bar soap to last me for years so no bar soap unless it is special (like, you made it yourself). I don't take bubble baths, so all bubble bath, bath bombs, etc are lost on me. I love shower gels though.

I would love to learn more about tarot, as something meditative. That's the first thing that comes to mind.

Question!: Is there any particular piece (or pieces) of art (painting, photograph, etc) that speaks to you in some way?
My answer: In general, I love art. My house is filled with it - I have a lot of vintage polish posters that I've gotten here there and everywhere. When I get around to photographing my house, I'll point them out. I also have a lot of art that I've collected on my various travels to different places. But I would say that the one piece of art that I've run across that really spoke to me in the last few years is this portrait called "2 am" by Juan Naranjo Torres.

What thing do you want to do (or get) but you keep putting off for one reason or another? Well, if you look at my amazon list, you'll see a lot of kitchen things and tools. My boyfriend (of 6.5 years) and I split about a month ago and I'm still replacing a lot of small things that were his. Cookie sheets, basket strainers, tongs, etc etc. I need it all again, but buying it feels so ugh.

Analog or Digital? Or Both?
For music, I like records, CDs or mp3s. I listen to mix CDs in my car, so those would be very welcome. I collect records - I like old time jazz, blues, r&b stuff the best. For books, I prefer digital - I have a kindle. Paper is fine though, if you've got a used book that you think I might like that can't be sent electronically. For movies, I prefer physical DVDs, but if you have only a digital copy, I'm happy to receive that as well. Basically, whatever makes it easiest for you, dear witch! but, to sum up -
music: either mp3s, mix CDs, or records. I don't need full physical CDS.
books: Kindle is my preference, used paper books are fine. I don't need new paper books - just send it digitally.
movies: I prefer physical DVDs, but if you have an efile, send it over and I'll watch it on my laptop. I just don't have any easy way to watch digital files on my television (I don't think?? 2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread).

kitchen stuff is a win for me right now. I'm just getting ready to re-do my kitchen, so cool accessories, particularly in white, grey, yellow or aqua, would be awesome! T-shirts are good, I'm usually an XXL girly in any internet brand, or a unisex Large (if there is a men's slim fit option). If there are only men's t-shirts, I'll pass as my boobs are big so men's t-shirts end up looking like a tent on me.

Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc I talked about this on the thread, but I love puzzles. My favorites are crosswords and logic puzzles. I also have a fondness for jigsaw puzzles - early on in our relationship, the manbeast and I used to sit together and assemble them as part of a date night. I can tell you that I DO own Candles Moon 2012, Weeping branches Moon, Hungry Ghost Moon 2011 (my favorite) and Singing Moon 2012. I don't buy too many because I find them a bit expensive for a t-shirt as I like the tissue tees. It has to be a design I REALLY resonate with.

What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? I like the room sprays and hair glosses very much. Lets see, I haven't tried any of the recent release of hair glosses, but I've tried everything from the first two releases. Both of the Lady of Pain hair glosses look great. I love the room sprays as well, and have a couple of my wishlist. I haven't tried any of the Lady of Pain sprays, and they all look fantastic. The candles I'm actually a little meh about - I loved my halloween candle from two years ago, but did not like the one I ordered this year and I haven't ordered any other. Again, they are a little pricey for me and nothing has really stood out as a YES YES YES. I am not interested in the soap (dries my skin) and I'm not into baths and since I found the glossing sprays from Haunt, I don't use the bathoils as moisturizer any more, so I'm probably good on that count as well.
Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: DVD, Blu-Ray, or something in the cloud (like Amazon, iTunes, Flixster, etc)? I like all kinds of movies. Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!!? When I was SCUBA diving in Thailand, one of the other people had a dive log book that had plastic page protectors in it. Little plastic page protectors for the log sheets. That is BRILLIANT. I always forget my log book so I have a million loose pieces of paper from the various dives I've done and I'd love to get some kind of small binder with protective pages for them all. Her binder had a cute fishie design on the outside too.

What's your opinion on Moonalisa? Any favorites or products you'd like to try? I've never tried it, but everyone raves about it. If I should be enabled, go for it. The bodywash and/or conditioner probably appeal to me most as products I'd like to try. No on all of the bath brews and such as I don't take baths.
Are there any BPALs that you loved the idea of, the imagery - whether artwork or description - but which didn't work out for you? (I'm asking because if they did, you might mention them elsewhere, but if not, the imagery might be helpful) No so much, really. I'm into the bpal for the scents and I often don't pay much attention to the imagery. Although the new line of natural drawings on the bottles I do love.

What would you like from the most recent BPAL update? What are you planning on buying for yourself and what would you like to try? I didn't buy anything for myself, yet, not even decants. I will likely buy the Sweet Pea SN. There are a couple bottles I'd be interested in trying - Aurelia*, Calocyclas*, Desmonema, Epibulia, and Octopus*. The starred ones I'm pretty sure won't work, but I'm interested in trying anyway. (Aurelia has strawberry, which always smells fake to me, Calocyclas has sandalwood which usually smells like pencil shavings and Octopus is a salty aquatic which can be really hit or miss - especially with Rose geranium). If I were to order decants, those are the ones I'd do but I was thinking about waiting for some reviews this time since they'll be up for a couple of months. I had high hopes for A Tremulous Song and ordered a ton of decants and none of them were what I was really hoping for.

If so, please provide your favourite ingredients, info on how you like to cook/store and use food, and any intolerances - unless all of these are in your questionnaire, or you don't like the idea. (I'm not saying I'd definitely do this, unless someone is keen, and it wouldn't be the only gift). I guess for other witches this might include something like a knitting pattern - not my thing but would you like that? Or indeed would you like a picture created for you (if so what kind) or a story written? (sorry if this feels a bit Spanish Inquisition!) I think my food preI ferences are pretty well laid out in my questionnaire and in these Q&As. Art I leave to my witch's discretion - I adore handmade things and can always find a place for them. I don't knit, so that wouldn't be so good.
If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have? I'd be a professional photographer. I got into the hobby late® in life, when I was almost finished with college and already on a the track to be what I currently am. But I love it so very much, and I wish I could make it into a profession. When I was a little girl, I thought I wanted to grow up and write and illustrate children's books, so maybe I'd take photographs to go in children's books that I wrote. Or maybe I'd be an interior designer! I don't know, definitely an artist of some sort. Regardless, I feel pretty lucky, all in all, to be doing what I do. I gave up all of my twenties to pursuing a Ph.D., but I don't think I could handle working a desk job. And science pays better than art, sadly.
Is there any thing - an object, a donation on your behalf, some research done for you, whatever - that your witch could do about this that you would like? And if you can't think of a present, would you rather she/he (I!) didn't either and confined themselves to things you are already involved in? I'm not sure I have an answer here.

Do you like stuffies/stuffed animals/art doll type thingies? If so, any particular type you'd love to get? If you find something that you simply MUST get for me, it's perfect and it's meaningful, then I will treasure it. I don't collect stuffed animals though, so don't go out of your way to look for them.
Switch Witch is, of course, all about you.....but if your Witch was so inclined, are there wee little ones in your home that will get jealous and are just too young to understand why you won't share the love, who maybe need a touch of Witchee love all their own, to distract them while you hide all your lovelies?!? Do you read literature/culture blogs or websites of any kind? I'm thinking about anything that would help a putative witch to get a sense of what your current tastes in books, movies, games, genres, approaches to culture and literature and so forth are Let's see, I read Gawker and I read the AV Club.
How do you feel about traditional picnics (namely the intimate table for two variety)? Old-fashioned basket or something more utilitarian (cooler/insulated bag)? I like them, but I'm not much of a picnic-er.
If you were put in a room with 100 random other people the same age and sex as you, from your country, in what way do you think you would be different from the average? I need to come back to this one when I have more time.
Haus of Gloi did a Reverie update! Do any of them interest you? (Or anything else up currently?) The only product I've tried is the lotion in amber, which I like. I wish the scent were a little stronger in it - I get a lot of the base ingredients, but what I can smell smells good! I'd try some of the scrubs, for sure. You have my list of scent likes and dislike - do your best! I will say that nothign on the Reverie catches my eye, but the Beguiled in the summer scents for the scrub looks yummy.
Witchee, do you cook? Do you do all the cooking? Is it a chore or a pleasure? I do cook some, but the boy does more. It is a pleasure, usually. I like simple, tasty recipes that are quick to prepare. Bonus if I can sub ingredients to use up my CSA stuff!
Which reading level do you prefer to read in YA or Adult? Or even both? I like both. Good young adult literature is good.

Do you like sample sized things? Think lipgloss, mascara, bodylotion, scrubs, mini candles, and so forth. Sure, that's fine. I like to try things before I committ.
Have you tried Fortune Cookie Soap? What products or scents would you like? I have not, but see my previous comments as to bars of soap. Usually, I do not like.
Do you use solid soaps at all? If so, what kind do or don't you like? No thanks.
Have you ever tried Cocoa Pink? If you are curious about it, what looks interesting to you? I have never tried it, but the dry oil sprays, after sun glow and both of the scrubs look interesting! There are lots of scents the look good on the winter 2012 list - if you look at my list of notes I like, you can probably guess which appeal. For scrubs, I do like foody scents too. For perfumes, I prefer a little less foody.
Do you like Lush? If so, what is your favorite product that is currently available, also, what is a product that you love but has been discontinued? I do, but I don't buy it much. I like the Ocean Spray face scrub so so much.
Anyone a fan of Shiro Cosmetics? Any particular products? Eye shadow pigments in general? Never tried it!
Are there any companies, products, or items you boycott? Not aggressively. I try to stay away from products with palm oil, but I'm not consistent about it. I do boycott Chik Fil A (as my friend says - they serve up tasty bags of deep fried hate) and Walmart (aka the evil empire). Also, it's not a boycott per se, but it has been YEARS since I've eaten at any fast food establishment that isn't Subway. Ever since I was Super Size Me in the theater, I've stayed away from fast food. Pretty much, if it has a drive through, I probably won't eat there.
As I am in Japan, what sort of things would you like from there? Ooh, some nice origami papers would be most welcome!

Do you enjoy scented candles? Certain sizes that you like? What kind of scents or brands? I do enjoy scented candles! I like Witch City Wicks a lot, but basically any clean burning, soy kind of candle is good for me. I like a wide variety of smells too. Some fresher smelling ones might be nice as I have a lot of foodie ones (which I love!) but I tend to go for those in the winter.
Thoughts about South Africa? Have you been here, would you like to go? Would you like to receive anything South African?
I have been there. My favorite things from South Africa are not very exportable. I have dreams about drinking Peartizer again. mmmmmmmmmm, Peartizer. I also really like Stoney Tangawisi, which is sold all over east Africa and South Africa, bottled by Coca Cola, but sadly not available in the US. That's all I can really think of - I'm stocked up on other African bits and bobs.

How much do you like lipbalm? Flavored or unflavored? What are your favorite brands and flavors? I am not a lipbalm girl, I'm afraid. I like a good medicated blistex when my lips are chapped, but otherwise I go bare lipped, or with gloss.
Do you like and wear lipgloss? If yes, what colours? I do like lip gloss. I prefer kinds that are relatively sheer, or lightly tinted in a natural kind of color and not sticky.
For those of you whose wishlists contain only BPALs, are there any other perfume companies you like or would like to try out? I mentioned this in my questionnaire AND my wishlist has other companies, but I really like Nocturne Alchemy, Arcana and especially Haunt products. I've never tried Moonalisa. I have one bottle of Violette Market and one or two of Possets and I've gotten samples here and there, but I have not tried anything extensively. I like the companies though, so if there is something you think I'd like, go for it! I've also gotten samples here and there of Solstice scents and while nothing has jumped out at me thus far, I'm not opposed. I'm not big on villainess perfumes - they smell great, but do not last at. all. on my skin. Must be her carrier oil or something.
Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. And if you had them and dislike them, can you name a few *other* tea companies you're into? I have not tried any Adagio teas. I am not a huge tea drinker. When I drink it, I prefer whole leaf and not bagged, mostly. I'm pretty open - the only thing I know I dislike is plain green tea. Things I know I especially like are Tazo's Vanilla Rooibos tea, Tazo's Passionfruit tea and Bigelow peach herbal tea. I've tried a bunch of stuff at Teavana and I always like what they have out to sample, but I rarely purchase as it is so expensive. I do have a loose tea drainer dealy and a measurer and canister from Teavana from the one time I bought some tea there.
What about coffee? Would you like to get coffee send to you? Whole bean or ground? What are some varieties and/or flavors you enjoy LOVE coffee. Prefer whole bean, prefer not fruit flavored, or hazelnut. Other than that, sky is the limit!
Who is your favourite female of all time? Historical, literary, ANYTHING, and why? Oh, I don't know that I can choose a favorite, period. I always favor the sort of badasses though - for historical, people like Queen Elizabeth I or Eleanor of Aquitaine who managed to do a lot despite the shitty lot of women in the middle ages. I'm also a big fan of Rosalind Franklin who totally deserved a slice of the Nobel Prize with Watson and Crick.

I love love love purses. I most frequently use clutch/wristlets or purse with long straps that can be worn cross body. I've killed the muscles in my shoulders hauling around heavy bags with short straps so the shorter strap bags start to bother me. I love wristlets or little armpit purses for going out though! The only thing I absolutely do not like is branded prints (i.e. the coach bags that have coach written all over them, or the LV printed vuitton bags). But otherwise, almost anything goes! I like things in neutrals and fun prints and colors.

Mmm, beer, how I do love thee. I prefer sours, brown ales, scottish reds and porters. The only kind of beer that I do NOT like are IPAs. I'm not a huge fan of ESBs either, but that's hit and miss. I love big red and dry white wines. Favorite red are cabernets from California and favorite white is Sancerre (which is basically a drier sauvingnon blanc). I also like chenin blancs very much for whites and merlots and baco noirs very much for reds.

It's funny, because I've totally been thinking of things recently that I wanted to mention!
(1) A non-disposable coffee sleeve (I may have added a couple to my etsy wishlist a while back). The cafeteria at work is frequently out of them and then I feel guilty for double cupping. And/or good coffee to-go cup. The one I have now is too small and difficult to clean. Witch, if I purchase from Starbucks, I order either grande or sometimes venti. My current to-go cup is about the size of a tall. Okay, that's 2 things, but they're related, so I'm making them one. So there!
(2) Some new, cute, kitchen dishtowls as mine are so sad and raggedy. Preferably not in white.
(3) A soap dish for my bathroom that lets the water drain. My nice bars of soaps that I like for hand washing turn into a gloppy mess because they sit in water in my current soapdish.

I'm not a big tea person, but if you have something you think I'd like, that's fine. It does not bother me. Actually, Truelove sent me the most awesome tea that she gets locally in the coffee swap that I LOVED. Just the right blend of herbs. Maybe it's not that I don't like tea, but that I'm not drinking the right tea (ponders).

The best thing I ever ate...:This is a TIE. My BF and I are quasi-foodies (We are not obsessed with food and will happily eat whatever, but both of us enjoy the fine dining experience). Best thing #1 is the rabbit ravioli from Alize in Las Vegas. But it's been several years since I had it, and the memory is fading. Best thing #2 (which I have eating twice in the last four months) is the truffled polenta at Scarpetta in NYC (Scott Conant's restaurant, for those Food Network aficionados). BEST. DISH. EVER.

I have been fortunate in this life to visit so many of the places that I have always wanted to go. The city of Venice always captured my imagination and when I made in there in 2007, it almost made me want to cry (from happiness, of course!). I would like to go back in time to see the medieval period. It's so romanticized and I would love to see the real stinking, dirty thing.
Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to? I'm with yewberry - I like the grrrlpower myths and legends. My personal favorite is the legend of Hua Mulan. Before Disney ever made a movie of it, I read Maxine Hong Kingston's retelling of the legend in the book Woman Warrior, and I fell in love.
When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? A really awesome cup of coffee and one of my "comfort re-reads" (books that I go to when I'm bummed out) always makes me feel better. As I said last SW round, there is something about reading a book that I've read a million times before that makes me feel relaxed and happy. My "comfort re-reads" include the Dark Tower series, The Mage Winds Trilogy (Mercedes Lackey), The Hero and the Crown (Robin McKinley), Blue Moon Rising (Simon R. Green), the Deathstalker series (Simon R. Green), and Harry Potter.
What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters? I'm not too big on comic books, although I do have (and am reading) all of the Angel comics. I only have the first compilation of the Buffy comics, but I want to read those too. I am also reading the Dark Tower comics (borrowed from a friend). I like comics that take characters and stories I already know and put them in graphic novel form.

I am picky about my conservation groups because I know so many people who are involved with conservation efforts around the world - and I like almost all of these Adopt-A- groups. The money is usually clearly earmarked and actually goes directly do the cause. Peek-A-Boo is my favorite! I used to "Adopt-A-Penguin" through the SF Zoo, which was one of their programs to raise money for the upkeep of the animals there. The bat adoption website looks ADORABLE and I heart bats very much. Here is my blathery side-note: There is a restaurant/bar/prostitute hook up place (it is each of these things depending on what time you go) in Dar es Salaam where you can watch the birds all fly across at sunset in a huge group and the fruit bats fly out also in a huge group. Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones? I love them all! DBF works in the theater industry, so I get to see a lot of them. I know this is heresy, but one of my least favorite musicals is Wicked. (meep!) I also love the opera - after all, an opera is just a musical with subtitles. And live animals! And fire! In answer to the question about dressing up:
I posted this over on the GUSP thread a while back. I love dressing up, and I go to a fair number of formal events since my SO is in the theater industry. However, sometimes dress shopping can be very traumatic for me. The last formal event I went to was in April. Let me tell you - it is frigging HARD to find an age appropriate dress for a 31 year old woman during prom season. Everything was mother of the bride or sequins and puffy skirts. I finally found this dress which I ended up loving.... even if I was one of the few people braving a color! (I took this image in the dressing room while I was trying on, so don't mind the bra straps!)
I don't think I have a photo of myself in my last opening night dress, but I did post the photo of the dress. This is my favorite formal dress that I've ever worn - far out stripping my ugly 1998 prom dress. This dress should have made my look 8x my size because of the horizontal banding, but it has the mojo. When I put it on in the dressing room, three total strangers told me I had to buy it because it looked so good. AND I repurposed it for a goth/industrial night here in New York. A velvet jacket, appropriate shoes and jewelry and a head piece makes this not bad for rocking the goth. It is a little snug right now - must work on that!
How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? I do not have a dishwasher, so all kitchen towels get beat up fast. I do need more, but "pretty" is probably lost on me.

Tea, my masai blanket and streaming netflix because:
(1) tea sooths the throat;
(2) the first time I went to Africa, I got malaria (yes, I took the best, newest, shiniest drugs, no they are not 100% effective) and spent the better part of a week huddled and shivering under that blanket I bought. But I got better! And nothing could be worse than that. Seriously, nothing;
(3)there is nothing that passes the time than watching 13 straight hours of some television show or other on Netflix.
And if I happen to be visiting my family, my mom. I don't think I ever appreciated my mom taking care of me until I moved out of the house I grew up in.
What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? (go crazy!) A trip to a fabulous city where I stay in a 5 star hotel and eat in only the best restaurants.
What do you really NOT want? I think I've covered this well in my survey, but please no soap or things that can only be used in the bath. I only have a short bath tub and I am tall, so they never get used (like bath bombs and bubble bath). Soap tends to really dry out my skin and I have more bars than I could ever use for my guest bath and hand washing.

Do you like poetry? meeeeeeeeeeh. Some of it is great, but I am picky.
What types of scents do you like to scent your home? Which do you totally avoid? In the spring, I like fresh clean scents - citrus, lavender, "ocean" ... in the fall/winter, I like baked goods - apple cider, cookies, pie.
How do you feel about nail polish? What colors do you like? Sparkles? I like it on my toeses in the summertime. Any color is fine.

I'm definitely very, very uncool and I'm just fine with that.
Do you have a favorite fabric? If someone were to make you a fabric item, would you prefer it be out of any fabric? e.g. velvet, satin, silk, cotton, bamboo??? Would this change if it were an article of clothing vs. a bag/pillow/blanket/somethingelse I'm generally open, but remember that the kittehs will leave their fur on everything. Comics: What an opportune question! I just finished watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and now I've started reading the comics. I have all of the Angel comics and I am about halfway through them all, but I only have the first Buffy volume. They aren't as hard to read as I thought thought they would be! For those who like lipgloss, lipstick, tinted balms, etc, what colors do you wear (and warm? cool?) and do you prefer something sheer or more opaque? How do you feel about shimmer? I love shimmer and I prefer sheer. I tend to wear warmer colors. I really like lipgloss, actually. My favorite brands are the sephora brand (the one that is almost clear, but shimmery), philosophy and Cargo.
Are there any fancy/gourmet/special herbs or spices that you'd love to receive? ie: good quality vanilla or other extracts, vanilla beans, saffron, lavender, etc. Nah. Not much of a cook - that's more of the boyfriend's thing.

What do you do when you need comfort etc?
One of the things that I always do when I am sick, feeling yucky and especially if I am feeling depressed is re-read one of my favorite books and/or series. I know a lot of people are not re-readers, but I find nothing more comforting than slipping into a story I know and love. It's a little like visiting old friends that I haven't seen in a while and it always makes me feel better. Sometimes, if it's a book I've read a LOT, I will skip to all of my favorite parts; but then again, sometimes I make myself wait to get to my favorite parts. It just depends on my mood and how much delicious anticipation I want.

When I was younger, I read Christy about a hundred times and I re-read it for the first time in YEARS a couple of years ago and I have no idea how I read past a lot of the religious themes in it - they seemed very obvious to me now and I didn't remember it being that way at all when I was 16. I have a few other frequent re-reads that are still in my parents house that I need to get back and see if they still fall into that category - Night Over Water by Ken Follett, Redwall, Mossflower and Mattimeo by Brian Jacques. I'm mad that I gave away my copy of Neverwhere - that's another good re-read book and the person I gave it to never gave it back.
Sigh, I love books.
Sockses? I have never used sock dreams, but I am intrigued by the concept. I generally don't wear "wild" socks, but it could be fun to have a fun patterned pair for halloween in particular.
Favorite Halloween Movie? One year a friend of mine and I watched the Scream trilogy. That was fun.
Makeup I wear it, but I am picky. I'm always game to try new eye shadows and things.
Comic Books: Not really into them, although I wouldn't mind trying out the Neil Gaiman ones. I flipped through some of those at the bookstore once and they looked pretty and interesting.
Warm drinks! Personally, I love them. My favorites are coffee, hot apple cider, cocoa and mulled wine. I do drink tea, but I tend to be pickier - I like flavorful teas like chai and darjeeling and lapsang, as well as berry and fruit flavored green teas. My favorite two specific teas are the passonfruit and vanilla rooibos tazo teas. I also like the Aveda loose leaf tea, but only brewed nice and strong. I've gotten some of the stuff teas from people in swaps and a lot of theirs is delicious too - although it's harder for me to find.
custom icons: I don't really use them, so no thanks.
animal totem: It's odd because I have a lot of animal themed art in my office, but I don't really have a totem so to speak. One of my favorite things I ever got in Africa is a carved wooden oryx. The people there always try and push elephants an giraffes on you and I eschewed all animal parapernalia until my third or fourth trip when I saw this graceful looking oryx all dusty in the back. She spoke to me.
If I could go back in time ...: I think it might be to the 20s. I think it would have been fun to be alive then - but not in the 30s. Further back, I'd have to go with the medieval period even though we have romanced it into being far greater than it likely was.
If I could be a fictional character from a fantasy novel...: I think I would like to be myself in the Harry Potter world. I would be an awesome witch.

Currently learning: I have my Ph.D., so I'm pretty much done as far as schooling. I would like to take more dive classes and become a more experienced SCUBA diver. Currently, I'm certified for dry suit and nitrox. I'd like to do a class in underwater photography and kelp diving and night diving! But sooooo expensive.
Will you be out of town during the round? Hmm, I do not think so. If so, the people who come to watch my pets get the mail.
Short stories/short movies? I do like movie shorts, but I do not like short stories. There isn't enough time! For me, the longer the book, the better. I want to follow my characters for as long as possible.
steampunk?: I do kind of like steam punk jewelry - particularly the watch and gears aspect of it. I have a ring that is basically the insides of a watch turned outside and I love it.

Favorite word? Strumpet. Ever since I read my first Shakespearean play, I have loved all of the different words for whore. Strumpet, trollop, wicked jade ... they are all so much fun!

zuni animal fetish: Eeeeeeeeeeh, probably not for me just because it's a "sitter" without that much meaning. If you play console video games, what game systems do you have and what games would you love to have? I have a Wii! I like all of the exercise "games" and MarioKart and things like that. I do not like first person shooter games or games that require excessive reading of some story line. I am a simple gaming soul and I miss tetris.
Vampire Stuff: I am not anti-vamp, but I am not a rabid fan. I have seen the first two Twilight movies and I thought they were kind of cheesy. I read the first Twilight book and didn't feel the need to move on. I like Anne Rice's vampire books though and I hear True Blood is awesome, although I haven't seen it.
How do you all feel about flowers and plants? Flower and plant seeds? Drawings of flowers or plants? Pressed flowers? Pressed flowers and flower art is awesome. For seeds, they would need to be plants that can be grown in the shade. I have a backyard but it gets very little sun.

Are there any international treats that you love and have a hard time finding? Coffee crisps! And Tim Tams! And Daim bars (although now we can get those at Ikea!). There are actually more international DRINKS that I miss - I love Peartizer and Appletizer (I've seen Appletizer in the UK, but I've only seen Peartizer in South Africa) and my very, VERY favorite is Stoney Tangawizi which is a ginger soft drink made by the Coca Cola Co. I've only ever seen it in East Africa.
If you are a crafter, would you like to receive supplies from your witch (beads, fabric, yarn/roving etc?) I don't do a lot of crafting, honestly. However, I do a little bit of bookmaking so if my witch found some pretty ribbons in particular for doing various ribbon bindings, that would be welcome!

How do you feel about recipes? Okay, here is the deal - I can cook and I even like to cook. However, my boyfriend used to work in a professional kitchen and feels the need to "help" and "improve upon" whatever I decide to cook. This annoys me SO MUCH that I rarely cook when he is around. So while I actually do love recipes, they kind of make me a little bitter in an odd sort of way. I just tried an apple chamomile blend that I got with a swap package and it was quite nummy and soothing to the stomach. How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? Soap slices, lotion/scrub/shower gel decants, single use make-up/beauty products, etc. Not into the soap slices, they never get used. Any of the rest is a-okay.

Are you lusting after anything Possets/Violette Market/Conjure Oils/etc? I find that I start to get overwhelmed when I start exploring all of those other sites. I can barely keep up with BPAL and now I find out there are a million other companies as well! I always enjoy getting frimps from other etailers, although with ONE exception I have not ever found something bottleworthy (exception = Arcana Breakfast in Hollywood). I almost bought a bottle of Frou Frou from Possets which I also quite like. The Violette Market LE scents sounds divine, but I don't even know if all of the same notes will work there. If there were a way to get a tester pack from another etailer, I would love that. I have notes of good and bad listed on my wishlist. I do know that I do not like Villianess perfumes. Whatever their base is slides right off of my skin. I've tried four and they last for maybe 30 minutes.

Do you like garlic? Do you REALLY like garlic? Would you want to try some really unusual garlic stuff, like garlic cheese or garlic fudge or garlic chocolate, etc., etc., etc.? I grew up not too far from Gilroy, so I have tried all of the garlic novelty food. It's fun, and I love garlic, but you don't need to go out of your way for it!

If you could make a scent that represents where you live (or have lived), what would be the ingredients? This was a hard one for me, but I'm inspired by one of my favorite smells in the city. In the wintertime, the candied nut vendors come out. One of them camps out right outside of my subway station so when I come out of the subway and into the cold, my nose is immediately greeted by the delicious smell of roasting nuts.
The scent of candied nuts in the sharp chill of the winter air, and a whiff of exhaust.

art: I love art, though I do tend to be picky. If you yourself is an artist, then I would love it to death as I love original art. If you're thinking of buying me something, you're better off going with something small. I love old book plates and things from natural science books.
Do you like alcoholic beverages? If so, what is your preference (beer, wine, liquor...)? And finally, is it legal to ship alcohol to your state?
I love classic cocktails, so any booze is welcome. I also like to try random things, so any kind of interesting, off the wall liqueur would also be very welcome. I am a huge wine drinker too. Wow, I sound like an alcoholic. I don't know what the legality if of shipping here, though I have ordered wine before and it has shipped here fine.
Imagine that someone hands you their wallet and sends you into a really good bakery. They have everything, from breads to brownies, cookies to croissants, anything you could imagine, and you're allowed to pick out five things for yourself. What do you pick?

Would you like soaps? Especially from Paintbox? And ESPECIALLY the Valentines Special Edition Soaps?? Could never turn them down!
Sockdreams?: I've never ordered from there, but they look lovely! I am not one for thigh highs or knee highs though.
Steampunk: I love the aesthetic, but I don't have anything that is steampunk.

(Love, protection, money, etc.)?: As indicated on my questionnaire, I do not practice (nor have ever practiced) any kind of religion/spiritual faith. While I find all religions and beliefs systems fascinating in an academic, anthropological kind of way, they aren't really for me.
Villianess update?: I've only tried their perfumes, but they slide right off of my skin. I am always willing to be enabled though!!
How are we feeling about Burlesque? I LOVE burlesque as an art form. I saw "A Burlesque Christmas Carol" this year - not a particularly artful burlesque, but interesting nevertheless. I'm more interested in the art/history/fashion of it than practicing it myself.
Win some earrings from alicia_stardust? They are beautiful, but copper is not a good metals for my ears. They tend to be a little sensitive to low grade metals.
Do I want my witch to reveal? I hope so! I would like to know in the end.
Do I want a lot of little packages or one big one? Whatever she wants. Everyone has a different style. I believe I will be witched eventually!
Keys? They are really cool, but I'm not sure I'd know what to do with one. I'm not a collector, so ... seems more like something I would admire rather wish to acquire.

vegan baked goods: ... would be greatly appreciated by the BF since he's lactose intolerant (bordering on totally allergic to all dairy - like, he can't even have butter) and I don't mind.
Dog sweater? I have no pups, and I'm pretty sure the kittehs would destroy any kind of sweatery goodness.
Lipbalm: I tend to use lip gloss or some kind of medicated balm when my lips get chapped. Nothing super fun, I'm afraid.
fictional universe: Mmm, His Dark Materials is a good one. I want to ride one of the bears!! (Though The Subtle Knife is my favorite of the three books)
The final frontier?: I am a total ST: Voyager fangrrl. There, I said it. I like TNG, but Voyager was the only one I was every really, really into. I DVR the repeats on Spike. I need to buy the DVDs.
astronomy? Not so much - it has never really been my thing.
HP House? Gryffindor! And my patronus would probably be something like a mountain lion.
What have I lost that I can never get back? I had this fabulous little cream colored shell that I got at the HUGE H&M in Stockholm. It was cheap (maybe $12.00 US?) but it looked good with dressy clothes. I have no idea where it went to, and I curse the day I lost it.
Have I bought anything? My dear witch, I haven't bought anything but I have been trading on the V-Day thread. I am sorry. BAD ELLEBELLE.

Nail polish - I don't really wear it very much, sadly. If you're going to go that way, I like deep sparkling reds.

BPAL boxes - I am desperately in need of an other bpal box. Also, I need a portable imp case or something so I can carry them in my purse.
incense/scented candles - not so big on the incense. Candles are fine, though the BF and I currently have an overabundance of them. If you go that way, no too many and I tend towards foody and/or citrus scents.
WoW - can't say I've ever played.
amazing yard sale/garage sale find -
(1) I collect antique (pre-1900) bottles, so any one that is RED would be totally amazing (they are very rare because the red coloration was made with gold)
(2) An antique box - I love the old cashboxes that were popular in colonical India/Africa.
Turkish Delight:You know, I don't think I've ever tried it. And my rule is that I'll try anything once!
Mardi Gras: I've never lived anywhere that it is truly celebrated. My best friend lived in New Orleans for two years, and never did get down there to see her during Mardi Gras - too expensive. The photos look like she had a good time!
Mix CDs? I love making and receiving mix CDs more than I could ever say.
Some of my friends and I have group mix CDs where we are each allowed to pick 9 minutes of music on a theme. It has led to some weird, but wonderful, mixes!
Candy? The BF thinks it is disgusting, but I love those night-crawler jelly worm things. They are so artificially delicious! And, of course, chocolate in any form.

Gently Used CDs/DVDs: Certainly! I often buy used for myself anyway since it is so much cheaper.
Favorite Love Story: Much Ado About Nothing is STILL my favorite Shakespearean play. I tend to like the romantic comedies where you know two people are perfect for each other but it takes them until the very end to admit it. (See also: While You Were Sleeping, French Kiss, Bridget Jones's Diary - three of my favorite mindless, I just want to relax and have a good time movies). My least favorite are when two people are perfect for each other and ridiculous obstacles come in the way of them being together. (See: every soap opera ever made.0
Gagetry!: I would love a cover for my ipod nano (I have the most recent version). Some of you crafty folks could probably easily even make one!! I'd love a laptop envelope also (Dell Latitutde D620). Otherwise, I have pretty much all of the accessories I need.
ComiCon/Ren Faires: I have never been, but if I went I am not the type to dress up. Actually, the closest I come to any of that are the Jazz Age events that are held here. I kind of dress up for those - I don't have the vintage clothes, but I have some in kind of a vintage-style and I wear my estate jewelry. EDIT: For those that are curious, you can search Michael Arenella and the Dreamland Orchestra - they put together the Lawn Parties, and you can see my series of photos from the event last summer here.
Oh, and my dear future witch: I believe I forgot to include on my Qaire that I am severely allergic to (I think) BPAL's cassia oil scent.
Hand knit: Absolutely! My mom is a huge knitter and she has made me several lovely things. She does mostly lace knitting now, so shawls and things. My cousin knitted me a wonderful soft had for Christmas. I loves the knitted goodies!
Love poem: Yeah, I'm not so big on those, apparently. Though my favorite poem is "The Wanderer", an old english poem. Google books has the translation I like:

Valentine's Colors: I particularly love deep, dark reds but I'm okay with pretty much all valentiens colors.
Hand-sewn?: I would love anything art-ed, sewn, or crafted by my witch. If you send me art, it will be lovingly framed and displayed in my home. If you send me clothing goods, they will be lovingly worn! I love it all.
Microbes: My friend works in a genetics lab and her fiance got her the microbes one year for her birthday. My favorite is the mad cow - because it's cow patterned!!! But I probably don't need any for me.
Favorite sign of spring - days getting longer and cherry blossoms in bloom! I love the first day I can take a walk outside with just a light jacket.
Favorite obsure animal: I am fond of quokkas.
